Jimi Jam and the Rock n Roll Band Heyden are Steve Carter, Dave McCowen, Mike Morelli and Jimmy VanderHeyden. Going by the shorter name "Heyden", is one of the Bruce Peninsula's only original Rock bands. We use the word original not just because all four members of the band are from this area, but because they made their bones playing their own original music. This seventies style rock band calls this area "their stomping ground" because they have played everywhere from Port Elgin, up the Bruce Peninsula back down to Owen Sound. Jimmy VanderHeyden and Steve Carter started playing together in their teens in Wiarton. While meeting up with drummer Dave McCowen in Limber-lost, introduced through a mutual friend, they found that Dave had his own drums and a place to make some noise, he was the perfect fit. As time went by we realized that we were going to need a lead guitar player who could really "shred it" on the electric guitar. We met Mike Morelli at his recording studio in Owen Sound and found not just a recording engineer but an accomplished guitar player. Our band plays a great assortment of cover tunes as well as our own original music.
