Dimi Angelis is a pivotal element in european and universal techno scene, alone or teaming up with Jeroen Search his tunes has been around from quite a while and finally he is landing with a complete EP in Warm UP.

Dimi provides three energetic cuts, fast, dirty, futuristic and funky all at once. 

First cut Fluid Shifts is made of a distorted bassline, shuffled 909 hats and bleepy short sequences in a non stop arrangement. Note the synth hit that comes in and out from time to time. 

Following there is Hidden Figures, under the same path soundwise, alternating distortion with crispiness, this time a bleep tone is the main element, liying on top of a continuous and dirty bassline as well as the usual 909 hat action. Another torpedo that will sink many boats on a proper dancefloor.

Closing the release comes Spinoff, again in the same sound parameters combining overdrive with clean elements, dirty bass frequencies again, clear kicks, 808 hatas and nothing else, just hypnosis, reduction and repetition.

In this times when everybody souds the same, it’s good to have original maker like Dimi, providing the right stuff for those who know.

Riva Starr and Tiger Stripes drop their debut collaborative EP, with the inspired ‘Sound Of The Bettest’.

We first got an inkling of the exciting partnership that may exist between Stefano Miele (Riva Starr) and Mikael Nordgren (Tiger Stripes) last November, when Stefano presented his new Hyperloop project on Truesoul. Not only was it one of 2017’s standout releases for the label, it featured an exciting re-work by Tiger Stripes of EP track ‘Fallen Angel’, giving us a sense of the musical harmony that exists between the pair and taste of what was to come. 

With Riva Starr’s background as a jungle/breakbeat DJ and Tiger Stripes long-history in techno, together with the pair’s shared love of dirty house beats, ‘Sound Of The Bettest’ is a wicked melting pot of both their pasts and passions. Hammered by Adam Beyer, the title track is driven by a stunning groovy bass, warehouse MCing and deft breakbeat interludes. ‘Move It’, is a rough and tough accompaniment, characterised by a bad arse jungle bassline and breakbeats, impactful vocals and  and stomping techno beats.

The second single from Steve Bug & Langenberg's new project together serves up another reminder why both producers are held in such high regard. 

Steve Bug's unwavering dedication to house music had brought forward yet another winning combination on his own Poker Flat Recordings label, this time with Langenberg - himself a key part of the deep house vanguard in Europe. 

'NGC 6240' is one of the harder edged tracks from the album 'Paradise Sold' - a techy, urgent work out with rising arpeggiated leads and sense of impending euphoria. 

Long time collaborator Tim Englehardt drops by to deliver a signature remix - taking the track in a deeper direction and opening up the arrangement to a trippy, tightly wound groove. 

The techno veteran Vince Watson also shares his vision for the track in another remix presented here - adding assistant claps and percussions and stretching out the drama over eight and half minutes.

There’s a big reason to celebrate, as we face the 150th release on Cocoon Recordings! That’s right, 150 prime cuts with a number of milestones. It’s hard to single out any one for particular praise but even so, we still have something very special planned for the anniversary. With a certain affection, we wanted to present an artist from the region so it’s with great pleasure that we can unveil “Countach” from the one and only Butch, as a more than worthy anniversary release. The native Mainzer and sometime Berliner is without doubt one of the most dazzling German Tech-House artists of the moment. His performances contain a full dose of funkiness and his self-made promo videos never fail to entertain, providing a lot of fun in the process. First and foremost though, Butch is an exceptional producer, who, as one of the chosen few, knows how to mix together those special ingredients that drag us onto the dance floor again and again. What’s more, since we really have something to celebrate, we don’t just have an original from Butch, it’s accompanied by a remix from none other than Kölsch!

If the term "man of the moment" applies to any artist then it’s got to be Kölsch! At least that’s true when it comes to hypnotic techno with a subtle yet seductive touch of trance. Kölsch is currently operating on another level. Whatever he touches turns to gold, turns moments on the dance floor into unforgettable experiences to be written down in the annals of techno.
His Kompakt release "Cassiopeia", as well as his remixes including the Chemical Brothers, stand out as musical testimonies of the past two years. The series of musical landmarks from the house of Kölsch is endless and his remix of Butch’s "Countach" is no exception!

With poise and purpose like the Lamborghini of the same name, Kölsch takes us on an epic journey with his remix here, but as things progress he still has the foresight to jams on the brakes, keeping the dance floor honest by slowing things down to cruise control for the middle of his ride. What a trip, a true adventure, a techno road movie that could only come from Kölsch!
Of course, after a remix like that, there’s not much left to say but this is techno and our man Butch is anything but normal! He just knows instinctively how to bring things to the boil and demonstrates it very impressively again on his original version. Implementing a ‘nasty’ arpeggio line that captivates us before being hunted down by a prime-time filter, Butch summons up an acid monster that works without a 303 but is no less effective. If that’s not enough Butch also proves himself a master of ecstatic dance during the closing sections, serving up an emotional string arrangement that glimmers and shines. As a result, “Countach” with his nice fat strings becomes an instant dance floor catcher.

It’ll probably be very difficult to pick a favourite from these two mixes, which makes this cut even fatter! It’s a great release brimming with pathos and full-on emotions.

Desolat label boss Loco Dice kicks off 2018 in fine style with a huge new single which sees the him reflecting on his musical roots and his connection to Dusseldorf, Detroit and beyond, whilst giving a taster for a brand new long player to come later in the year. 
Dice’s recent past has seen the master of robust house and techno funk serve up killer remixes of Moby’s classic ‘Go’ and release his Underground Sound Suicide album, whilst continuing to headline the biggest clubs and festivals around the world. At the same time, he has directed his endless passion and musical sensibilities to bare upon his Desolat label, with a stream of records released from some of the most exciting artists around and supported by DJs across the globe. Now though the stage is set for the first new Loco Dice original recording in some time and it is sure to see him once more at heart of the global scene. The bristling ‘Roots’ is a typically forceful track that blurs the lines between house end techno. It has twitchy synths bringing the energy to hurried drums as smooth chords add real soul. The new Intec release is from Darren Emerson who many will instantly recognise as being an original member of iconic Underworld, and played a large role in the making of their anthems such as Born Slippy, Cowgirl and Rez.

Darren Emerson left Underworld at the peak of their popularity to focus on his career as a solo artist, and over the last three decades he has been one of the most influential people in electronic music.

As a solo producer Darren Emerson has collaborated with the likes of Sasha, Depeche Mode, Björk and The Chemical Brothers, and as a DJ travelled the globe to playing headline sets at many of the worlds top festivals and club events.

Having been on the front cover of many of the worlds longstanding music magazines, he has also compiled seminal mix CDs for brands like Global Underground, and fully deserved of his legendary status within the house and techno genres.

Track one Birdcage starts with a slow building acid line and metallic synth chimes that add texture and an eerie atmosphere before the euphoric lead synth is introduced in the main break, and the tracks takes a whole new direction. Full of nostalgia, this is certainly a game of two halves, and is an up-tempo techno journey full of unexpected twists and turns.

Jupe is second on the EP with muffled synth stabs layered under a stabbing lead combine with looped notation that creates a sense of urgency in the track. Building with intensity, dramatic snare rolls and fast flowing claps propel the rolling groove of this dancefloor focused techno titan, which is timeless in its sound design and full of impact.

Hicky & Kalo reinterprete the track adding warmer drums thus establishing a closer groove, retaking the continuous arpeggiator and composing an engaging melody.
