fuck it, here's some subpar throatsinging with unnecessarily loud acoustic guitar - nobody looks at the secondary channel anyway lmao B)

just goofing around during a recent guitar recording session (got a couple songs coming up w some live playing - isn't that exciting?). saw an instagram reel not too long ago where a guy explained how to basically do a basic version of overtone singing, and ever since i actually learned how to Consistently produce a tone (even if it's a wobbly, unsteady one), i've been doing This on occasion.

mind you, this isn't meant to mock - i'm actually quite a big fan of throatsinging, and i admire the tradition very much, especially tuvan throatsinging! it has a very enchanting sound.

this is just me being silly with it - i'm singing a lithuanian folk song 'pempel pempel koudoutuoj' ('lapwing, oh crested lapwing'), since i can't actually speak tuvan, or any of the throatsinging-adjacent northeast asian languages, haha

as for the picture next to the song, that's the face of the late Kongar-ool Ondar, one of the old tuvan masters of throatsinging, and one of the great experts of the khoomei throatsinging style. it's superimposed on a heraldic sun. i'd like to think of it as a sort of mildly amusing tribute to a master of his craft.
