There is something about the groove on DJ Mau Mau’s early releases that just gets me and everyone within earshot moving wildly each and every time a track of his gets slammed in the club. His tunes go hard for sure, but the rhythm and vibe seems to be something hits people universally. 

Hell’s Club has been on my want list on Discogs for years and that prohibitive price really left me no choice but to reissue the damn thing. I have played it every single set since I got the new masters back and it is so effective at getting a crowd moving. Tech house at it’s absolute best. 

D+ is a total mammoth. The weird organ samples in the first half of the track really freak people and then it gets serious real quick... This one bangs but as usual with DJ Mau Mau, the bass line is actually funky as fuck underneath. 

JMRB brings a bit of lightness to the EP. Funky and loopy with the synths and then rollin’ and swayin’ with the drums and bass. Perfect for that mid set vibe. 

Finally, I made a little edit of Breakers In Space to make it a bit more dance floor ready. It’s a back and forward of a spacey break and a hard slamming groove. It was made with the end of the warm up in mind and has been proving very effective for that moment in my sets. 

This re release has been freshly remastered for maximum boost and sounds fat as fuck on a system.

This will be the A2 on the 2nd EP on the Council Work label, the remix of title track 'Dread' from label owners Frankel & Harper. Honoured to have the Seven Dials Records label owner and FUSE mainstay Seb Zito on board for the remix! The track, and the whole EP continues to set the label signature sound. The track will be accompanied by the original, plus a track each from both label owners, Tom Frankel & Dayne Harper.

Spies - Watchman (R.Kitt Remix) - 28.11.19

A year after the release of their critically acclaimed debut album ‘Constancy’, alternative 5-piece Spies have shared a remix of Watchman, one of the albums more club focused tracks.

This remix comes courtesy of Dublin producer R.Kitt who describes the track as ‘Acid Dub’.

Those who have seen Kitt live recently will be familiar with the remix which he has featured in his sets at Boiler Room x AVA Festival 2019 and All Together Now.

This is the first of three remixes to be shared by the band with upcoming collaborations with producer Rían Trench (Solar Bears) slated for release in the new year.

In addition to this release the band have announced a new show in Dublin’s Whelans on February 15th. Tickets are on sale on Eventbrite from 10am on Friday, 29th of November.

Back in February we invited Dukwa over from Florence to come stay with us in Glasgow and write some music. The time spent locked away in the studio was similar to this social distancing we're dealing with at the moment actually... and coincidently we came up with a track that in retrospect, we thought was pretty apt for these strange times we are working through...
