Wind Up Radio

This is an excerpt from a 17 minute long experimental improvisation in Atwood's Tavern in Cambridge, MA on Wednesday, March 10, 2010. (This was long before we were known as Vapors of Morphine -- the band had only been officially a unit since the previous spring.) This track was released on the CD Members of Morphine with Jeremy Lyons by The Ever Expanding Elastic Waste Band in the autumn of the same year. I was considering releasing the entire track here, but it just seemed a bit much. Maybe later. (Art work by DC) -JL

Kitchen Open till Midnight

This is an excerpt from a rehearsal dated Dec. 1, 2014, for our NYE show at Atwood's featuring Boubacar Diabate and friends. The rehearsal took place in the basement of Bouba's apartment building, and was recorded on Jeff Allison's trusty pal "Wally" --  his Tascam DR100 Mk II mini-recorder. Playing on this track are Boubacar on guitar and vocals, Dana on alto and baritone saxes, Jerome on a pared down drum kit and Jeff Allison on percussion. I believe Bouba's buddy/manager Mateja Miljacki stepped in on a big ol' drum from Mali, later on in the session. Enjoy! --JL

Live on WAAF, Bay State Rock show with Carmelita, 12/15/13. Recorded in mono; processed and mastered by Jeff Allison. We were plugging our NYE gig at Atwood's, which would mark our shift from Wednesdays to Saturdays on the club's weekly schedule. Jeff Allison joins Dana, Jerome and Jeremy (note his masterful triangle on this track)for the radio show and the gig. I believe this may have been when we first announced our name change to Vapors of Morphine.

This is our version of a classic Morphine tune, sung by Dana Colley on an album we put out in 2010, only a year into this project. We were a little confused about our identity, and both the band and the album went by two different names: "Members of Morphine with/and Jeremy Lyons" and the succinct and to the point "The Ever Expanding Elastic Waste Band." 
Yeah.
Well, it all worked out in the end; we got to stay under the radar (not exactly on purpose) while we figured out what exactly we could do. 
This track is one of my personal favorites from the album. -- JL

Let's Take a Trip Together (by Mark Sandman)

Some slide guitar. Another track from the album "A New Low," this one is an old Delta Blues tune by Kid Bailey, which Jeremy has been playing since his street days in New Orleans with the Big Mess Blues Band. John Mooney and subsequently Augie Jr covered the tune as "Ain't Gonna Marry." Jeremy recorded it with the Deltabilly Boys back in 2001, for "Live at the Dragon's Den." But the VoM version stands alone. 
Everything on this track was recorded live in the studio. Recorded by Pete Weiss and company and produced by Pete and VoM.
