Vardae and Toe are electronic music artists known for their collaborative work, blending techno with experimental sounds. Their release, "Rao", dropped in 2024 under Monochrome Records, features atmospheric textures and dynamic rhythms that push the boundaries of genre. Their music often draws from techno, dub, and drum & bass, creating immersive soundscapes that stand out in the underground scene.

A long time ago in the Mongolian steppe, people from the Khori,
the Kiyat and the Sunud decided to unite their forces with other
tribes to fight against the oppression of Western forces. The tribal
leaders celebrated their union under the stars of Altan Ovo sacred
mountain. The Mongol Empire was born, the attackers were
defeated and the steppe found peace for centuries.
Don’t stay alone, go with your tribe and you’ll be able to move
mountains!

Vardae - Power of the tribe (w/ Estrato Aurora) 12”

Vardae, producer and co-founder of the French festival Ouroboros, is known for crafting immersive, hypnotic two-hour live sets that venture into exciting realms of psychedelic music. This vision has come to life in performances such as a UK debut for London’s Perspectives and a driving techno and drum led set at Belgium’s La Nature festival.

Ouroboros invites people to "join the circle," embracing community and the ritual of dance music. The upcoming EP, Power of the Tribe, on Norwegian label Annulled, captures this same spirit of unity and will be available on Bandcamp on 7th November.


Opening the release, Khori sets a suspenseful, atmospheric mood where melody anchors a trance-like progression and beat. The sound strikes a balance between introspective moments and intense, dance-floor energy — a fusion of sounds from around the world that together create a beautifully rounded EP.

PREMIERE: Vardae - Khori [Annulled Music]

The full recording of Vardae at Ratherlost 24hrs edition in Lofi, Amsterdam on August 18th, 2024. The French organizer of the Ouroboros festival went all-out for the closing, spinning a relentless vortex of breaks, techno, dubstep, and jungle woven together in a tribalistic climax of sound and energy.

Vardae’s creative world is deeply rooted in the psychedelic experience. Dreamed up by an auditory alchemist, Vardae’s highly imaginative take on techno combines microscopic detail, intricate rhythms, celestial soundscapes, and a pervasive depth that pushes listeners to the edges of their perception.

Vardae’s sound is visceral, exuding a ritualistic quality and an alluring, primal energy that bridges the gap between music for the body, mind, and the spirit. The resulting works are metamorphic—dynamic, hypnotic, and immersive sounds spanning forward-thinking techno, hypnotic half-time, and contemporary drum and bass.

Beyond his productions, Vardae’s creative vision extends to his work with Ewo ‘Eyes Wide Open’ Collective, where he curates multisensory experiences like ‘House of the Singing Wood’. This quadraphonic sound haven has been showcased at Europe’s premier festivals, including Per:sona, La Nature, and Monument, offering audiences a space for reconnection and transformation. Ewo also host regular Rituel Résonance events and a bi-monthly Chimera show on LYL Radio further provide platform for guests of shared values. A proponent of collective approaches to sound, Vardae also contributes to the growing gathering that is Ouroboros, a french festival and events series hosted alongside 13 friends.

Vardae continues to pioneer the convergence of psychedelic sound, visual artistry, and cultural curation. Undoubtedly one of my favourite artists at the moment, I am incredibly grateful to have had Vardae on the show! Broadcased live on PBS on the 27th December, 2024.
