This is the first mix I've ever released under another platform, and one that I am hella proud of. While it's not technically seamless, this specific blend of tracks is the purest expression of how I've been feeling and expressing myself lately. Many of these songs have been the soundtrack of my last few months since moving to New York at the end of January, developing along with my personal journeys in the house & vogue dance forms that I practice, my gender expression, and my adventures around the city. 

To me this mix feels in the pocket, and a specific one — empowering deep and acid house that hits hard but still maintains a cunty feel, with their respective sexy moans and vocals, complemented by ballroom tracks that punch... and of course, a sprinkle of soul & groove to make sure you're really in your happy feels. 

This mix literally feels like the inside of my brain - each song tied to memories and ideas and inspiration and other parts of myself. I am grateful to have been offered this platform to share it. Thank you for listening. <3

Daytimers on Reprezent Radio (London)

This set starts with a message from Archie Burnett (@/demoncar007 on IG), a mentor to many dancers around the world and narrator/co-producer of the iconic documentary, “Check Your Body at the Door,”. The documentary showcases the lives and culture of club dancers in New York through the 90s. Made to Move (IG - @/madetomovela), my party @/bodyhigh.lgr, and @/coloredcraigcommunity collaborated on a screening event for this documentary in December. 

For this show I wanted to record many of the tracks I played from our party that night, which was dedicated to the dancers — for the ones that paved the way, and for the ones we make room for today. Accordingly, this set features classic NY and deep house, as well as some of my favorite Detroit cuts.

bedroom rave music

Sinister. I would say this word really encapsulates the one common feeling I get from all of these tracks, many of which I've been slowly adding to my mental list for a halloween-inspired mix for years (but we're not calling it that because halloween was yesterday lol). 

I'm in love with the way the keyboard in "Kaleidoscope" dances around that fantastic bass line (you should definitely check out the original too, btw). The brooding, moody, and existential affects of Take a Fall for Me, Idioteque, and Gosh. The bubbling noises that evoke evil-witch-cauldron imagery, paired with the heavy bass lines behind Nicki and Busta Rhymes' on Twerk It (also wondering if there's a name for this type of dancehall? Like that hard, deep rap over a thick bassline. Bc I know Busta Rhymes & old Major Lazer isn't all it lol). But I love the cheeky Patois of Peaches and Timberlee on Scare Me by Major Lazer, against the punchy, high-energy production. This mix was a fun one to put together.

House Grooves w/ VARSHA 1/21/21

VARSHA is a DJ, freestyle dancer, and model from the San Francisco Bay Area, and is bicoastal between New York and the west coast. Her music taste and DJ practice is deeply inspired by the communities of artists and dancers from the queer and freestyle dance cultures that she is a part of, primarily the freestyle house dance & ballroom scenes. Through her bouncy, playful, and deep selections she strives to channel the vibrant energy of these scenes, encouraging party-goers to feel boundless in their bodies and their movement. She's passionate about bringing the underground club scene & dancers back together, by nurturing self-expression, joy, and community at her events — an aim which she achieves via her seminal Oakland-based party and monthly radio show, BODY HIGH.

Spring 2024 saw the release of a dance music compilation titled 'I.Y.K.Y.K.', that she co-curated with her business partner 4AM NYC, under the label Air Texture.
