As cheesy as it may sound, my heart melts everytime I listen to Arijit Singh's rendition of this beautiful song! The urdu/arabic-sounding lyrics are vaguely enticing even to just say out loud. 
Have been wanting to try singing this song for a while & I don't think I did even 20% justice to it.

My first-ever favourite song, originally rendered by the one-and-only M.S. (M. S. Subbulakshmi), for the movie, Meera. Interestingly, she herself plays the role of Meera in the film. The devotional form of love and melancholy expressed by her in this song, is not reproducible (by me!) Nevertheless, enjoyed attempting to sing this song that touches a raw nerve (in me, again).

A humble attempt at getting back to singing in 2019, with one of my all-time favourite songs. This was a நேயர் விருப்பம் suggestion to sing by dear husband! Wonderfully rendered by Suzanne, this song is a nostalgic reminiscence of a lady love. Nithya Menon and Nani, two of my favourite actors make a lovely pair on-screen.

One of the most evergreen songs, ever created and rendered... this is one of my all-time favourites. நேயர் விருப்பம் request from a dear, dear, friend. :) He kindly reminded me that I had recorded and sent this song many years ago and it meant a lot for him given when he received it. Sang without karaoke because with karaoke it sounded absolutely abaswaram! :D 
I'm going to use this as a marker and come back to this song after some practice (read as: many songs later, hopefully this year). And also hopefully, record with karaoke at that time.

More background: I fell in love with this song in December 2012 when dear Aishu made me listen to it! Composed by Yuvan Shankar Raja, beautiful lyrics penned by my favourite lyricist Na. Muthukumar (no-more), originally rendered flawlessly by Nandini Srikar - this song was love at first "audition"! I'm going to try and find more songs of Nandini Srikar to practice, since (I think) I am able to sort of match with her voice pitch.

Sri Chakra Raja was one of the first keerthanais that was taught to me... a raagamaalika at that! I learnt it almost 18 years ago, but it's still fresh in my memory and continues to be one of my favourite carnatic songs.
When my teacher told me that one of the raagams in the keerthanai, punnaagavaraali, is the same as the raaga in "aadu paambe vilayaadu paambe", I was fascinated! 
This keerthanai also gave to me a priceless gift, one of my favourite raagas, Sindhu Bharavi, which in my opinion is one of the most heart wrenching and emotive raagas. 
My version is flawed as always. But I'm glad to have attempted singing it after a long time.

Soundtrack of this song played in the background of one of the Tamil web series that I was watching in Put Chutney channel on YouTube (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Livin%27_(web_series)). This made me remember how much I enjoyed the movie mouna raagam... 
This particular song, penned by Vaali is very real in lyrical quality and is captivating..Ilayaraja's music and S.P.B.'s voice add magic to the song...
Loved soaking in the beauty of this song (as cheesy as it may sound) and singing it...my version is perfectly flawed as always (it is true).

Would like to add this song to "Best of Bharathiyar", if only such a list exists. One of my favourite songs, hands down. 
My flawed rendition is a dedication to my Paati (maternal grandmother) on the occasion of her first memorial. A simple, kind, innocent, extremely emotional person full of love for her family, near and dear ones, I miss her dearly...can't believe it's already been a year since we lost her.
ஆசை முகம் மறந்து போகலை! 
(நல்ல வேளை) வண்ண படம் இருக்கு! 

I still remember her loving face and persona,
And thank goodness, I do have colour photographs of her...

Couldn't find a better song to express shared grief and memories of her... 

Will always cherish her presence and influence in my life.
