Completing his third instalment for us we welcome back George Thompson in his Black Merlin guise. George's mixes are always some of our most well received and this one should be no different. Quite unlike most other things you'll hear; which is of course our mission to bring you interesting sounds from way out there. Black Merlin will shortly be releasing an as of yet untitled album via the Indonesian record label, Island of the Gods. Which George recorded in Indonesia featuring Gamelan music and atmospheric recordings of his experiences there.

Drawing inspiration from ‘90s breakbeat and big beat nostalgia—think The Dust Brothers, Propellerheads, Fatboy Slim, The Prodigy, among others—paired with the a more modern flair, FUNKTHEPOPULATION by Yablochko Zelenoe gives the beloved sound of the ‘90s a massive resurgence. Drenched in infectious raw grooves and packed with hip-hop and heavy metal influences, it’s a spewing fountainhead of optimism for global headbanger syndicates.

“Poison” is unrelenting and rugged, with unsuspecting switch-ups and breaks that keep the listener on their toes. Idealistic rave stabs are peppered with soulful, energizing vocals.

“Groove Street Hooligan” is lowrider-approved, with saucy leads, busted Three 6-style vocals, acid basslines, and tough recordscratches—all repurposed and dialed in for 2025

“2001 Tats” will send any summer party into a frenzy with its catchy riffs and percussive swagger—a menacing DJ’s secret weapon on the dance floor.

“Everyday Underdog” throws back to the grungy elements with its crossover of hip-hop and rock—sounding like something you’d hear at a Prodigy concert: stripped-down, loud, and full of bite.

“Digger Girl” is a heart-filled optic core energy anthem—simple yet effective in its approach, glowing with golden hour radiance.

Yablochko Zelenoe revives the past as he mutates it into something futuristic and entirely his own.
