Local Suicide (@localsuicide) return with the third of four remix EPs for their debut album, 'Eros Anikate', this time named after the ancient Greek god Apollo.

The Greco-German DJ and Producer couple are known for their wild fusion of new wave, acid, slow techno, EBM, and dark disco and have been driving live audiences into a frenzy across the globe with captivating performances and live sets. Their propulsive grooves have earned them the title of key figures in the up-rising dark disco scene, as well as overwhelming support from the music press worldwide for their releases to date. Their debut 'Eros Anikate' comes after 13 EP releases and is the next step on their journey to a worldwide cobra wave and techno-disco takeover. The album includes selected vocal features and collaborations from Lena Platonos, Curses, Theus Mago, Kalipo, Sissi Rada and more, and received immense support from the likes of Mixmag, Spiegel, Tsugi, Faze, Inverted Audio, Sonic Seducer, Starwax, Side Line, Ransom Note, Groove, The Sun, Kaput Mag, Electronic Groove, Deutschlandradio Kultur, Lifo, Spotify and Apple Music.

'Eros Anikate - Apollo Remixes' is a 4-track EP featuring a remix for 'Whispering w/ Curses', 'Moustache w/ Skelesys', 'Like Follow Subscribe feat. Hard Ton', and 'PHD In Apology'. The EP will be released digitally and as a limited and numbered clear 12” vinyl via their Iptamenos Discos  (@iptamenosdiscos) imprint on November 18th, 2022.

The EP opens with a remix of 'Whispering' by the legendary, Berlin-based duo, Adana Twins (@adanatwins). Since their first big break in 2012, the duo have established a sterling reputation, constantly refining their sound, pushing the boundaries of their musical ambition and evolving organically over time. They are driven by a deep-seated desire to transmit emotion through electronic music, merging Benjamin's love of hip-hop and Friso's passion for club music to produce a series of highly-regarded releases that form the foundation of their global success. As they've grown, the duo have channelled their love for electronic music into their platform, TAU, providing a creative space to expand their sound while also discovering and nurturing new artists, including Local Suicide, who previously released on the label a few years ago. Their remix of 'Whispering' strips back the synths and guitars, placing the bass at the forefront to drive the track while Curses' dark, 80s-inspired vocals dance among Dina's echoing whispers. Local Suicide collaborated with New York born and raised artist Curses to reminisce on the wilder and sexier times of the ‘Spaghetti style’ wild west films they watched in their youth, literally putting the ‘wild’ into the ‘wild west’.

Prepare to be transported into a realm of sonic enchantment with the forthcoming release from Berlin's renowned Iptamenos Discos. Boys’ Shorts, the dynamic queer duo hailing from Greece, comprised of Vangelis (formerly of LAGASTA) and London based Tareq, are set to unveil their EP 'Something To Forget' accompanied by captivating remixes from Gabe Gurnsey and Whitesquare.

Following their successful ‘New Era’ EP which was on high rotation on Berlin’s RBB Radioeins, and lending their remix skills to Local Suicide on their Eros Anikate album, Boys’ Shorts are yet again back on Iptamenos Discos with ‘Something to Forget’. The duo consists of Vangelis and
Tareq who have been friends for over a decade and have had an incredibly successful year, with a string of highly praised releases on Permanent Vacation, Live At Robert Johnson, HE.SHE.THEY & Pets Recordings, and DJ sets in esteemed venues including London’s E1 and Berlin’s Berghain as well as remixing Alison Goldfrapp and supporting her on tour.

‘Something To Forget’, the first single and title track starts with a strong kick and a prominent snare which punches through the mix and becomes a driving force which anchors the track. The bouncy and energetic bassline is contrasted with lyrics which are somewhat melancholic, however they are performed in a way that gives them an underlying sense of optimism.

The extremely talented producer Gabe Gurnsey, a regular on Phantasy Sound and member of Factory Floor, puts forward a dancefloor focused remix of ‘Something To Forget’, which ups the tempo and shifts the focus to the bassline, teasing snippets of the vocals initially and only letting them play out in full for a moment after the break.

‘Flying Away’ features washed out synths packed with reverb and dreamy emotion filled vocals that float around your head, and toe the line between happy and sad, never quite landing on either and leaving it up to the listener for interpretation.

Roman DJ and producer, Whitesquare is on remix duties for ‘Flying Away’ and throws away all questions of what tone the track will follow with the introduction of a euphoric and nostalgic piano melody in the breakdown, that will bring a smile to everyone’s face and a wave of positive energy over any dancefloor.

Something To Forget’ is sure to be a revered release by Boys’ Shorts and another exciting addition to the Iptamenos Discos catalogue. The full EP including both remixes will be released on all digital/streaming platforms and 12” vinyl on June 14th, 2024.

Feinstoff label head Freudenthal snaps ‘Sirin’ into action with a euphoric reimagining of the original. Soaked in Feinstoff’s contemporary Nostalgia and subtle nods to post-punk, Freudenthal readies the remix for the Summer. The remixes all carry the thread of Feinstoff’s abundance of arpeggiated dance-floor magic.

Bucharest’s Walentin Pauer provides a melodic flip of ‘Sirin' with flashes of Electro and an almost C78-style drum pattern. With cosmic-style FX and washed-out hi-hats, we are led to a powerful dark wave payoff.

Borusiade transforms ‘Animal Power’ into an emotive, cinematic soundscape riding a gently oscillating arp, which builds to the wails and cries of Alexandrina’s climatic vocals from the original.

Rounding off the remix EP with conclusive flair is Mathmatrix’s mix for ‘Magnetic Eyes', a cathartic, anthemic piece weaving through flashes of alt-pop. The vocals sit beautifully within the crushed edges of the mix, resulting in a breathtaking meeting of visions.

Powering on from their successful year of releases, the Berlin-based duo Local Suicide have teamed up with Kalipo, the Bavarian producer whose downbeat, hazy tracks are renowned for their electric melancholy vibes.

Releasing on Hold Your Ground, a sublabel of Audiolith, that credits a wide range of countries and influences to bring them the best electronic sounds from around the world, allows for the diverse talent on the EP to take centre stage.

The two tracks Dominator and Crocodile ooze new wave nostalgia and confront us with the metaphorical vocals that reminisce in our experiences as humans. Dominator's syncopated kicks and synths march toward you like a band of dancers, while the sassy vocals inspire that feeling of rebellion and seduction. Crocodile is a much grizzlier track, with the synths resonance taking full effect on your ears as the succinct vocals chant to you like they are coming from within.

Mateo González - who the duo know well from collaborating with on previous projects such as last year's track Komm Ins Loch - has taken Dominator in his stride and given us 2 remixes from his ulterior aliases. The Theus Mago remix is a harrowing acid-trip take on the track; dipping its metaphorical toe into the dark and mysterious pool of techno that he approaches his remix's with. Keeping the vocals isolated and minimal, the track glitches into a world of its own interpreting and digesting its own melody and rhythm. Bufi's remix hits us with housey and disco claps and cowbells, bringing us into a bohemium jungle, full of exotic but intriguing ingredients that overcome all the senses.

The final remix on the EP is Saint Petersburg's Radial Gaze's take on Crocodile. The track, in a major key, incorporates laser synths that shoot out in every direction, while the manipulated voice that lures you into the climax of the track is met with ringing percussion; keeping those same grizzly kicks from the original track

A superb compilation of electronic and new wave sounds, intended to tempt each listener whatever their musical pleasures. The nostalgia-inducing project is set to be released on the 7th of February 2020, on Hold Your Ground
