Encounters is the debut album from @Zantilla aka Adrian Shegstad, that focuses on J. Allen Hynek's Scale of Close Encounters which relates to everything from UFO sightings, to abductions, and even communication between humans and extraterrestrial beings.

To paint this musical picture, Adrian chose a wide array of FM sounds, with some 2A03 additions. This, in combination with modern metal recording techniques and live drum sounds, give Encounters a very rich sonic palette using simple textures.

This album of Game Boy tunes aims for a uniquely illustrative approach to chipmusic, resulting in a sound that is lush, nuanced and full of vitality. 

"VARIOUS TOPICS" consists of several all-new tracks from @bryface, as well as remastered and/or expanded versions of select previously-released songs. 

Each song varies wildly in style and theme, but expect a few elements to be shared in common: chunky, intricate grooves. Meticulous sound design. Lyrical melodies that evoke a decidedly old-school demostyle flair. Stunning washboard abs. 

But more importantly, this album hopes to take you beyond the technical details into less tangible emotional territory — into the peculiar, the saccharine, the oddball, and just maybe, the surprisingly profound.

Tuffy the Corgi and the Tower of Bones Soundtrack

Zackery Wilson (@zackerywilson) is a composer, pianist, and video game music enthusiast currently living in Austin, TX. Like so many others of similar age, Zack grew up playing the video games of yesteryear and, subsequently, latched onto their infectious soundtracks, particularly the jazz-based harmonic language of early video game music. It wasn't until fairly recently, though, that Zack became directly involved with the VGM/chiptune community, first uploading chipmusic on the now-defunct 8bitcollective back in 2011. Since his formal debut on Ubiktune last year (2013), Zack has released music on various albums, soundtracks, and compilations, while concurrently working on his dissertation [in partial fulfillment of the requirements for the degree of Doctor of Musical Arts (D.M.A.) at the University of Texas at Austin].

Zackery Wilson’s SNESQUE is the marriage of Super Nintendo soundfonts (i.e. collections of samples from original Super Nintendo video games) and modern-day audio production (i.e. EQ, delay, reverb, filters, etc.). For each original track, Zack adhered strictly to self imposed limitations: Each was created using only one soundfont(exclusive to each respective game), again, only taking liberties with audio production and some creative sample manipulation (i.e. pitch-shifting, time-stretching, etc.); the structure of each track limited to roughly a minute’s worth of music, looping once (in the tradition of standard video game “level” music) before fading out.

From progressive rock to jazz fusion, samba to swing, SNESQUE is a hodgepodge of musical styles, connected by the nostalgic sound of Super Nintendo video games and the familiarity of present-day audio production techniques.

SNESQUE will be released this September. Stay tuned!

"A small, peaceful town of the Wesdrow nation. Upon reaching adulthood, citizens are required to enlist in Wesdrow's reserve militia. While the town has maintained this loyalty to Wesdrow over the years without much protest, the town itself sits far from the dangers of large-scale war. It is surrounded on one side by a forest and opens into the Faris Plains on the other."

Dave/Blitz Lunar recently created a soundfont using the instruments from Bomberman 64, my favorite childhood game - and I wrote a song with it! These sounds make me ridiculously nostalgic and happy.

This is a silly song that I wrote about Gazer while playing the first public build of Cryamore. At the time, he hadn't been programmed to attack yet, so he would just waddle around and follow me like a best friend. But someday, I know he will fire laser beams out of his mouth and destroy me.

[Sketch] - My Tomodachi, Gazer

Musing freely on two themes from Disasterpeace's FEZ soundtrack: "Beacon" and "Forgotten." 

Amazingly, this was me and surasshu's first collaboration in person! It was great to feel things out and play off of each other face-to-face. The end result is different than what we're both used to - much more loose and improvisatory-sounding, as you'd expect from two people making music in a room together. 

We named our arrangement "Come Back" in reference to both the words beacon (a guiding light) and forgotten (something you've encountered in the past, but have lost.)
