Inspired by a recent trip to Brazil, Gavea Groove interprets the vibrant sights, sounds, and communal energy of Carnival through a techno lens. The result is a driving hardgroove sound marked by swung Latin percussion, bursts of samba ear candy, and looped vocal samples that nod to the call-and-response chants of the street parades.

Side B kicks off with Vox Groove, a more measured cut that balances thudding percussion and murky grooves with sweeping atmospheres and vocal fragments that drift in and out of focus, panning across the mix like echoes in a humid night.

The Stuttgart, Germany-based record label Mutual Rytm is home to the well-known artist SHDW. Numerous exceptional producers, like Grindvik, Raffaele Attanasio, Stigmata, and Alarico, have their music featured on the label.

For more than ten years, Hemka has been influencing techno and expanding her global following with her work on quality labels like Ben Sims’ Symbolism, Kriz’s Token, and TWR72’s Float, to name only a few. The Paris-based artist drops her first full release for Mutual Rytm titled Introspection, which follows an appearance on a compilation, and she shows her full repertoire with 7 original works in total.

For this DT:Premiere we selected “The Bad Place” is a punchy percussion workout. Its raw, rolling groove has a classic sound with an eerie atmosphere. The recharge at the breakdown spins it back to a stripped back and jackin’ style that is all about moving the dance floor.

"This EP is both an introspection and a checkpoint in my creative journey. I have a lot to express, and music allows me to do it quickly, sometimes in the wrong way, sometimes in the right way, but who cares. Because the main thing is to keep creating, always.
For this first EP, I started in September 2024 with an idea: to take stock of my music and, as we do for the baccalaureate or other exams, to hand in a copy of what I can offer before moving on to the next stage.
But be careful, I will savor this one, even if it might quickly bore me" laughs "because it remains the first, and I am happy. I know that anyone can play it.
