Following the events of "Annihilation", xato presents the second part of his personal odyssey, "Irrational Fear".

"Irrational Fear" explores the dark self with intense drone recordings being the main sound focus of the project, surrounded by field-recording manipulations and deeply evolving textures.

As the project's tracks aged between 2020 and 2022, it never felt like the right time to release the project. However things changed when the reasons behind the tracks were revamped in the more recent years.

At the request of the CNC (French National Cinema Center) Maxime Dangles has realized for a date series across France a cine-concert on the rare and innovative silent film of 1913 "Le Roman de Carpentier" tribute to the first French boxing world champion.

The result is twelve tracks between ambient, IDM, electronica and Melodic Techno exploring the story from all angles and feelings.

A sound narrative of great finesse, affirming the richness of Maxime Dangles' production work and his ability to draw singular landscapes from which strong emotions emerge, following in the footsteps of Hans Zimmer, Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross' original soundtracks, while exploring the most experimental side of club music.

Maxime Dangles entered the electronic music scene 15 years ago on the Kompakt label, collecting prestigious remixes (Moby, Green Velvet, Simian Mobile Disco, Kittin & The Hacker...). Reference of the international electronic scene, he’s renowned for his immersive and singular sound design that he shapes with his modular synths. But for the last 4 years, Maxime Dangles has slowed down his club dates to devote himself to this type of creation, to the spatialization of sound, in places such as the SAT in Montreal and to the SONARS arts and sciences project alongside researchers from the CNRS, who took him on board at the heart of their research on the islands of Saint-Pierre and Micquelon.

Today, the catacombs of the Temple of Joy are bathed in waves of euphoric deprogramming, activating our limbic systems to maximize the production of ecstatic energy.

Responsible for this release of transgression and liberation is the experimental collective INVOLUCIJA. Drawing inspiration from the ex-Yugoslavian scene with influences like Borghesia and Laibach, they blend Balkan musical traditions with industrial techno to create a new phenomenon known as Balkan Body Music.

Founded by Michel Morin (Sneak-Thief / Polygamy Boys) and Lucija Invo, @involucija is also a label. Their latest release, a collaborative LP with the Croatian prince of dark waters, @yasssa, will be out on September 6th as a split-label release with Berlin's @aufnahme-wiedergabe.

It's an hour-long journey through the world of INVOLUCIJA — a recording of a live performance rather than a DJ set, capturing the raw pulses and clanking slugs that define their sound.

New York City’s Veronica Vasicka very much discovered an untapped musical mine when searching for music for her radio show more than a decade ago. That mine was full of rare, overlooked and forgotten DIY synth records from the 70s and 80s and inspired her to start her own label, Minimal Wave. Since then it has become an imprint with a very focussed musical and visual identity, has spawned compilations on Peanut Butter Wolf's Stones Throw Records and has made Veronica an in demand DJ all round the world.

At those gigs, she offers up a sleek musical vision that is mirrored here in the mix she had done for our on going series.  Starting with a poignant monologue about new music, it then drops into a rugged groove that is industrial and machine made, abstract and futuristic. The ensuing hour touches on the robo-techno of Levon Vincent, terse beats and raved-up electro as well as some colourful and trippy disco. A lot is packed in, but a buffed metal sheen ties the whole thing together and subtly oozes the very essence of Minimal Wave.

A Compilation of Minimal Wave From Around The World (1980-1991), The Bedroom Tapes features rare, unreleased, and licensed tracks all the way from Belgium to Australia to Japan. The Bedroom Tapes excitedly marks Minimal Wave’s 66th release and is a follow up in the series to The Lost Tapes, The Found Tapes, The Hidden Tapes and of course The Minimal Wave Tapes. The twelve artists on this compilation mostly recorded their music onto 4-track tape in their bedroom studios. The sounds on this record range from German new wave to experimental electronic, to early industrial body music from the Swedish countryside, to dreary melodic minimal synth. The theme is music recorded in the bedroom for listening in the bedroom. The Bedroom Tapes presents songs from Pink Elln, Karen Marks, Disque Omo, Vorgruppe, Iham/Echo, Perfect Mother, Arvid Tuba, Subject, Denial, Unovidual, Aural indifference, and Autumn all lovingly remastered. Limited edition of 999 numbered copies, pressed on 180 gram vinyl, and housed in heavy printed jacket accompanied by printed inner jacket with artists photos and info. Cold wave, minimal techno, electro abstract, avant- hard, hardcore techno, break core, IDM, EBM, Death Rock, punk Rock, New Wave,Dark Wave, Ambient, MiamiBootyBase, SpeedBase, Dub, RagaMuffin, Dubstep, Industrial, Noise, Experimental, world beat...did I forget anything?  Neophyte, for sure, and these are all my newly found treasures, that I have dug up from around the world.  One day I will produce some tracks again, until then, I will spend every minute listening to all the newly found gems!
