Episode 29 of DRIFT sees a return to Edinburgh with a dive into some of J Wax’s favourite chilled and non-club tracks. As a member of Palidrone (a collective which also includes previous DRIFT guests Dansa and Provost), he has been involved in some face melting nights, bringing legendary artists such as DJ Stingray and Errorsmith to the capital to play to sold out crowds. Despite clubs being closed, you can still keep up to date with the Palidrone crew’s output thanks to their slot on local station EH-FM where they play everything from house and garage to breakneck jungle and hardcore. J Wax has also been busy on the production front, with his recent vinyl release ‘Blink’ selling out on Scottish label Kouncil Kuts. Featuring 5 serious electro tracks which are sure to be club staples in the summer, the EP also includes a collaboration with up and coming artist SAAH as well as the J Wax and DeeJay Bloom classic, FourFifty, pressed on wax for the first time!

This mix gives an insight into J Wax’s home listening favourites - a farsight from the pace and energy of his usual breaky electro sets; this mix contains a relaxed and eclectic blend of tracks perfectly suited to a summer’s afternoon. Featuring everything from Memphis Horrorcore and deep, enthralling breaks to head-nod-inducing house and techno, it provides a 40 min break from reality which is sure to brighten your day.

Leipzig-based DJ Ritar started to touch ground with her musical endeavours in Halle/Saale three years ago. Since then she quickly established herself as a household name in the East-German Scene in Leipzig collaborating with the @bakelecake series and the record store @vary_leipzig. I’m d.phylleia, I’m a DJ new to the scene, from London (UK). I’m inspired by electro in all its form. In particular, all things gritty, distorted and bass-driven. I’m drawn to the genre because of it’s history, complexity and the underlying darkness in its sound. I have a bi-monthly show on @narr-radio in Leeds, which explores other forms of electronic that inspire me such as industrial, darkwave, experimental, post-punk, EBM and rhythmic noise. Dyslecta steps up to the plate to deliver his signature imprint for the first instalment of our new mix series, Outsourced. Each month over 2021, we will be inviting some of our favourite DJ's, producers and friends of the label to take over our 1020 radio residency with an hour of their own selections. 

Dyslecta is coming off the back of a 2020 where he stamped himself on to the scene with a string of contributions to VA's and his own EP's, including his first bit of vinyl with Gated Recordings. His release B&H Black, out on Ape-X records, was one of our favourite releases from last year. He is showing no signs of slowing down, with several releases already planned for this year, including a track on our upcoming VA. 

Expect Dyslecta's usual mix of bass-driven broken techno, intricate percussion and woozy melodies over this packed hour of selections.
