Fresh from his success with the ‘Bassline Thumpin’ EP, Harley D is back on the Serial Killaz label for another fresh instalment of future jungle. The selection on the ‘Bud Business’ EP is nothing short of mind blowing so strap in, hold tight and watch the ride.

‘The Jungle’ comes straight in with full on blockbuster movie vibes. Atmospheric overload right from the tap of the start button to the point where Harley D really pulls out all the stops to fully embrace your ears. A combination of classic hardcore breaks, distorted drawn out lead bass notes and a ton of vocal stabs to really make you feel like you have either lost the plot or are actually stuck inna jungle.

Title track ‘Bud Business’ flexes out a calmer tone, introducing Harley’s swing step into the mix alongside ragga vocals and smoothed out pads. It’s a versatile beast this one, aimed at the dancefloor under a heavy haze of weed smoke and green lazers. ‘Bad’ brings forth that ever present Purge drone alongside a modulating low end sine wave that's bound to cause every single window in your street to vibrate. Cheeky vocal stabs and chord pads create tension in the mix.

‘You Feel’ may well remind you a little of ‘Hyperspace’ depending on how you’re listening to it. Stuck in a mind vortex? If not, you may well be after this one. 2 step breaks, dreamy female vox and layers of bass take you on a sonic trip from the off. Rewind and come again! Sliding into the outro with ‘Check This’ which sets precedent for future Serial Killaz outings with a tough as nails lead bassline that rips through speaker boxes like a chainsaw and then some. Like dubstep at 175? This one you.

With over 20 years of experience as a DJ and producer, Serum’s understanding of the history of D&B shines through in everything he does.  A string of bona-fide anthems have seen Serum’s music grace labels as diverse as V Recordings, Shogun Audio, Playaz, Critical, Philly Blunt and Creative Source.

Serum says of his debut release on Doc Scott's 31 label ‘Both Species & Blood Red are quite inspired by the original Virus releases. I wanted to make something with a harder edge and modern production but without losing the grit or the groove. I sampled a lot of experimental electronic music from the 60s and 70s and used vintage style hardware to bring out the right character in the sounds’.

Coming off the back of his his collaboration with Audioporn boss man Shimon in the shape of 'Monsters’, Benny L returns with a devastating 4 track E.P: ‘Fire in the Sky’.

‘Fire in the Sky’ features the vocal talents of Firefly. Crunchy atmospherics, a hi-pass filtered drum break and inconspicuous midrange bass stabs float in and out of earshot taking the tune into the drop. As Benny L creates the tension, switching to a low-passed drum break sprinkled with vocal presence of Firefly, the kick drum creeps in, building to a crescendo; it instantly tells the listener that the tune's going to drop heavy and boy does it! The long distorted mid bass note coupled with clever use of low sub-heavy bass and Firefly’s lyrics causes dance floor destruction wherever it's been played; this is one track that guarantees the rewind!

‘Backlash’, on a different tip to the title track, shows the deeper side to Benny L’s productions. Leading with a chunky 2 step beat, crisp percussion and space-age sound FX interweaving through the drums, the intro means business. 

Next up on the E.P we have ‘Freight Train’; this tune carries on where ‘Backlash’ left off. Solid chunky drums, sharp crisp percussion and airy pads complemented with a basic but effective lead riff, carry into the clever vocal sample before the uncompromising, nerve jangling bass hits your face and melts your ears. 

Lastly, we see the grittier side of Benny L with ‘Unorthodox’. With bouncy syncopated live sounding drums coupled with a distorted morphing bass line; the second drop hits you harder than the first, be warned!
