London-based musician and producer Ryan Lee West, aka Rival Consoles, is back with the euphoric, pulsating title track to his upcoming record Now Is — bursting into colour like the appearance of the summer sun.

Now Is marks a new chapter in an ongoing quest for refinement and evolution. More playful and melodic, the album draws from much experimentation in minimalist songwriting and seamlessly blends synthesisers and acoustic instruments.

“There are some pieces that are influenced quite strongly by the isolation and anxiety of these times. There are also pieces which are more optimistic and vibrant, which I think is a consistent attitude of my records, as I want art to express many aspects of life.”

Rival Consoles is set to appear live at festivals this month, with headline shows expected to follow around the album release in the autumn.

Following off from Rejected’s successful summer they have hooked yet again some fresh new talent, Dutch DJ & Producer Mulder who steps up to take his place on the labels stellar stand of releases.

Hitting off with the A Side we have Rejected’s Head Honcho Voorn stamping his style on the muscular dance floor groover “Natural high”. Accompanying the punchy kick and groovy bass we have a driving melodic rhythmic lead, which will tear down a treat for any dance floor! With its underlying percussive ride and trademark groove it has all the ingredients for a 4x4 floor filler classic.

Meanwhile on side B of the EP we have “Varta”, with its rolling warm bass partnered with a canorous layout of percussion it’sguaranteed a jive. From start to finish this gem has a progressive edge that builds throughout, which makes it a versatile musical tool for any party, at any time! Ooooo yeah

In 1999, Playhouse - the excellent housey sister-label of mighty Klang Elektronik - put out a Bodo Elsel 12” called “Discount Baby.” It’s always stood out in my mind as a high water mark in the Sacred Art of the Groove. Punchy accents and resonant bass layered with trippy vocal loops; it's dubby acid house of the highest order, made by a mysterious German Lego-master, whom the A&R team of Mike Mind and Thomas St. Shindig managed to coax back into activity.
 
It only took Bodo a year to answer Mr. Mind's email, but he eventually delivered three amazing tracks. Haustier revitalizes piano house, Mai is incredible, and Mein Haus is one of the top few all-time expressions of the greatness/meaning of Germany, putting it in the fine company of the Autobahn, Sven Väth and Christmas-Market Schwein. NICE WIBES!!
 
The icing on the cake was that Bodo made it very clear he wanted no part in royalties or any of that business crap...he just wanted 42 copies of the record. We are not sure whether he will want 42 copies of the digital release.
