What an honor and humbling experience to be one of the first to blast sound at Burning Man this year and especially at DISTRIKT, right after the end of a tiring build week!
I cooked some “proper” tracks (212 Remix, Jem Be Edit, Queen Remix) tailored to the event, and got a chance to field test them earlier this year at various gigs. This time I even tried a new blend of some trippy/melodic scratches as seasonings, let me know what you think ;-)

About the mix:

"I had toured for the first time in Australia late 2018 and it made a massive impression on me. In many ways, it reminded me of a warmer version of Canada. People were incredibly kind and welcoming and I was blown away by the hospitality the promoters and local artists showed me. I also absolutely adored the incredible nature I saw in Australia, having played in Hobart and Brisbane and Melbourne and Sydney and Adelaide and Hopkins’ Creek Festival in a volcanic crater, I fell in love with the landscapes I saw and the animals local only to this part of the world. So when I first sat down to think about this mix, the bushfires had just started raging and the news was beyond depressing to see. Everywhere I saw online was just videos and pictures of burned animals and ash that was once blooming flora & fauna. A fan from Australia sent me a DM on IG, telling me how my song “Terracotta”, as it’s a track that talks about the sea and land, was able to give them a lot of peace during a time that was anything but.

And so I decided I wanted to make a mix that not only paid tribute to this incredible music scene and country and its amazing artists, but was musically able to provide a sense of solace to people who perhaps feel hopeless about our time on this planet. That is partly why I began the mix with music by indigenous tribes from East Timor—as “modern” people it’s sad to see that we’ve lost touch with the roots of our life on this planet as we know it, and I think we have so much to learn from indigenous cultures and their respect for mother nature. I also chose a lot of dub music, and music that featured lots of organic drums for similar reasons, as these styles of music owe as much to indigenous folk music as they do to modern electronic music. Ultimately I wanted the mix to feel like slipping into a warm bath. Hope it was successful. 🙂"

The island of the gods, a place that we visited for the first time and that interestingly enough also showed us things inside ourselves for the first time.

3 QUESTIONS to DJ ZOMBI:

Q: Let's talk about your mix. How did these tracks influence your life, your career?

A: Well, in the beginning it seemed so easy and nice to find 15 older tunes that really influenced me and mix them. But then I realised that some of this very special songs are Techno, some Pop, some Ambient and some Drum'N'Bass and basically there is no chance to put them in a nice flow. So I decided to use the soulful influencers, then my folder became more fit to mix. I can confirm that every song on this mix actually played by me at gigs and home and everywhere thousands times, it only includes those tunes that u want to wake up with, the ones that gives u goosbamps today too, the ones that are literally the soundtrack of my life.

Q: You're part of a movement in your country Israel. DJ, producer, promoter. How would you describe the development of electronic music in Israel?

A: I can talk really long about this one. I've been here for almost 20 years now as active DJ, Party Promoter, content manager and label. I love the israeli scene, it's a small country but extremely full with electronic music enthusiasts and talents. Since ever there been great clubs and venues here and every respected DJ was here at least ones. The main change that local scene experienced is switch from Psy Trance leading community (from 1993 till 2008) to Techno / House people nowdays. Before 2010 we have been a Psy leading country and with help of some successful talents world got to know that we are great at other electronic genres as well. I'm happy to be one of this first ambassadors too, with my Weekend Heroes project we been one of first Israeli Techno/House acts to travel the world.

Q: Which future projects are coming on your label Beat Boutique and which exciting news can we expect for DJ Zombi?

A: I've been working too much solo in the studio since last 16 months and thats why many exciting things happening now. I have currently Top 5 Electronica record "Broken" released on Guy J's avant grade label Armadillo and my upcoming releases coming on Anjunadeep, Replug, Sudbeat and my own Beat Boutique of course, so as you see all good in the Hood. 2020 must be a good year, I'm very positive about that!

After the last two teaser releases from Cameaʼs forthcoming album, ‘Dystopian Loveʼ, we have so far experienced industrial breaks, electro synths, emotional melodies and epic vocals, as well as a techno club edit headed straight for the dance floor. And thatʼs only three of the eleven tracks sheʼs created for her album debut coming this March.

Now, Cameaʼs next and final teaser track release, titled ‘Togetherʼ, is in cue. The original version continues to build the narrative for her impassioned Dystopian Love story, and is a journey told with captivating orchestral strings, analog percussion and synthesisers, all reprocessed with intricate sound design and editing - which is now becoming Cameaʼs signature sound atmosphere. The second track of the release manifests Cameaʼs studio and DJ duality, with an epic 135bpm banging Acid Rave Version, made purely from the heart and sure to light up the main stage. Not to be missed.
