Velocity is a DJ and producer from Tokyo, who has hooked up with the legendary Makoto’s Human Elements label for the release of his new Night Owl EP.

The new EP begins with the smooth and seductive Night Owl. This one slides and shimmers into life, guiding you through the underground evening. Touches of jazzy bass and horns lead into a tight but relaxed beat and shifting samples. Let this one take you into Velocity’s world. The Moonstone Theme meanwhile, uses rushy breaks to underpin its expansive, liquid feelings, before layers of piano, guitar and strings add to the picture. This one’s sunny and summery despite its name.
The third track, Fossa Magna, explores some deeper depths, beginning with an insistent key line which leads up to a stinging breakbeat and eerier dropping effects. Headnodding and involving, Fossa…sees Velocity open his inventory of different moods and emotions, whilst still keeping with the vibe of the EP. That vibe is continued on Lost Technology, a rangy, emotive effort which continues the voyage into the unknown, dancing down rabbit holes and even injecting some neurofunk into the mix. Percussion runs, creepy synths and booming basslines guide the way to ensure you don’t get completely Lost inside the Technology.
Closer Black Drop Effect brings things out into the light again, as the producer drops a smooth beat which builds throughout. Sprightly keys bounce off the top of the track, lodging things firmly in your brain and moving your feet all night.

日本が誇る世界のプロデューサーMakotoが主宰するレーベル “Human Elements” が約3年ぶりに復活。3年ぶりのリリースとなるのは日本 東京をベースに活動するプロデューサーVelocityによるNight Owl EP。すでにDJ Markyを始め、世界中のTop DJによりプレイされている。Night Owlを中心に、彼による様々なスタイルの最新トラックが絶妙なバランスで収録されている。

リード曲となるNight Owlはソリッドかつリラックスした雰囲気のビートにジャジーなベースとホーンが絡み、EPの幕開けにふさわしいトラックとなっており、すでにDJ MarkyのDJ SetやPlayaz Radioを始め、既に多くのアーティストにプレイされている。
The Moonstone ThemeはスムースなAmen Breakにピアノ、ギターストリングスが加わったリキッドファンクチューンになっており、2016年の夏を象徴するような曲になっている。
3曲目のFossa Magnaは普段のVelocityのサウンドとは一線を画し、突き刺すようなブレイクビーツと印象的なキーラインでスタート。アンダーグラウンドでディープな雰囲気を持たせつつもダンスフロアを意識したようなトラックになっており、BBC Radio1でFrictionにプレイされるなど、様々なアーティストにサポートを受けている。
4曲目のLost TechnologyもVelocityの新たな一面を垣間みる事の出来る1曲。良い意味で不気味なシンセコードにパンチ感のあるビートとうねるようなベースラインが絡むディープサウンド。中盤で絡んでくるパーカッションが良いアクセントとなっている。
最後のBlack Drop EffectもLost Technologyからの流れに乗り、ディープなサウンドを引き継ぐ。美しいピアノに加え、シンプルではあるが特徴あるベースラインに加え、ボーカルサンプルが印象的な曲。
Night OwlからBlack Drop Effectまで、様々なタイプの曲が収録されているが一貫して夜の雰囲気を醸し出している。今までのVelocityサウンドを継承しつつも新しいレベルに突入したEPとなっており、Human Elements再始動にふさわしい作品となっている。

Velocity (Human Elements / Liquid V / Jazzsticks) 

Velocity is Drum&Bass DJ & Producer based in Tokyo, Japan.  In Feb 2003, Velocity established "7NiNE Productions" (composition of DJ, Designer and VJ) to showcase his skills as a DJ. In the same year 7NiNE Production started the Neo Tokyo Drum & Bass party "ZERO", and he played as a resident DJ at WOMB (Tokyo). In 2005, Velocity took part and created sound effects for the legendary VJ software "Motion Dive Tokyo". In 2008, he entered and won the 2nd place on C.N.S(CDJ New Style) battle competition organized by Pioneer, where he laid-down and wowed the judges with his technical mixing styles and proved his skills to the world. and his tunes have been gaining major support from big names such as; Commix, Marky, Bailey, Bryan G, Random Movement, Makoto, A-Sides. and BBC 1 DJ Friction has also recently been playing his tunes. Velocity has released his tune "Velocity & Key MC - Ladder" on compilation album "Something We Can Do" from HE:Digital, which got to No.1 in the iTunes Store Electronic genre chart in Japan and managed to enter the top 20 in the Beatport single chart. In 2011, "Light In Nightmare" will be released on UK Drum & Bass label W10 Records, and also Velocity's first EP (Concentration EP) is forthcoming on HE:Digital due for release 2011. in 2014 finally Velocity’s UK debut at innerSoul @ Plan B. 
last years see the release of his vinyl debut “Malaky & Velocity - Midnight” on Fizzybeats. 
in 2016 Velocity - Jelly Break reached #1 on Juno Records Vinyl Sales chart. so his new release is “Night Owl EP” from Makoto’s imprint “Human Elements”. and “Satl & Velocity - Set It Out” (Fokuz Recordings) selected by Drum&BassArena 2017 compilation.
legendary MC Fats & Velocity released “Hide & Seek” & “We Gotcha Junglist” on Bryan Gee’s Liquid V that placed Top 5 in Beatport chart. and called “Untitled Roller” & “Paul SG - Cosmic Jam (Velocity Remix) released on Paul SG’s Jazzsticks. And long time awaited his music gonna release on home Human Elements soon.
