I wrote this piece about the feeling one gets towards the end of a heatwave. It uses unusual harmonies that never fall onto the kind of chord that the listener might expect in order to create a lack of resolution, quite like the feeling of heat that just keeps going. This piece has been played quite a few times by my father, Ryszard Pusz with Bogdan Kazmierczak, and once by myself with Penny Reiss. Sadly, I don't have a good recording of it, so this one is computer generated.

This piece was inspired by a book I never read (my ex read it)! It involved a group of composers in heaven, and I thought it was a bit unlikely that only classical composers made it there, surely other musicians would get there too. So, for many years, I have thought of what might happen when two prominent musicians/composers from different times and different worlds meet up. Here is one possibility.

This is a piece that I have had in mind for many years, it's inspired by the idea of light streaming across into new places as dawn breaks.

This piece is the first that I have written specifically with the aim of being used as background music. Therefore, it will only be here for as long as it's not being used anywhere else. As soon as it gets chosen, it disappears!

Sit Back

I wrote this piece as an expression of my disgust at my country's (Australia's) continuing appalling treatment of refugees, now backed up by the courts. I have used Satie's Gymnopedies (perhaps the most easily digestible of all "modern" classical music) as a template to ask a few questions: how far are we prepared to go? how big a distortion of all that we find beautiful in our society are we prepared to accept? at which point do we accept that we have done the wrong thing? The piece intentionally does not resolve. (I really wish that Finale could do a better job of dynamics than this)

Angels Don't Use Barbed Wire

I have read that musicians should apparently promote themselves online as having a particular sound or style. I just don't see that working out! 

I play and write classical, jazz, salsa, funk, electronica and things that don't classify so easily. I have written pieces in the style of taiko drumming, I have written television theme music, I have written music for theatre and for dance, I have even written a piece music to be played by bashing up a car. Needless to say, that one only got performed once!
