Velya’s DJ career begins during mid- 90’s, when the clubbing pot was infused with some of its finest ingredients. Closely following in the footsteps of Belgrade’s first family of DJs, his musical affinities, playful at first, electrified over the years and humbly gave way to a refined talent and a profound musical character. Over the last two decades, he bounced back and forth between supporting some of the top underground artists by mixing and matching their supreme tunes and stylistic inventions and sharing his amusement with the clubbing crowds, as well as laboriously reinventing his own music. In his extensive DJ work, he developed excellent skills behind the decks, which meant that some of Belgrade’s finest clubs and festivals sought his residency.  Although he played at large events and parties for thousands of people, he still prefers to perform at smaller and intimate clubs and locations with a more cohesive vibe. 
Velya is usually occupied with producing house and techno club tracks. Likewise, he enjoys experimenting with soundscape compositions. By using various samples at first and later manipulating the waveforms into creating authentic sound elements, he compiles thematic compositions that are easy to transcend a listener to a vivid cinematic scene. 
Throughout his career, he lined up together with artists such as Derrick May, Dave Angel, Oliver Ho, Michael De Hay, Jeremy Underground Paris and Demetrio Giannice. However, Velya was not only at the forefront of Belgrade music scene as its agent, he also worked on the transmission of music culture through a written word. In his career, he worked as an editor of Planet Techno column for “Sound and Music” magazine, where he was reviewing new music releases as well as interviewing musicians from all over the world, including Belleville Three, DJ Bone, Norm Talley, Rennie Foster, Fabrice Lig, Underground Resistance, K Hand, Richie Hawtin, AUX 88, Ludovic Llorca, Guillamino and others.  
Since his performances vary from vibrant experimental tunes to straightforward house and techno, it is hard to simply define the concept behind Velya’s DJ sets. This particularly becomes clear in his longer performances.
After leaving Belgrade scene with a significant contribution, he now lives in Brisbane inspired and ready to do the same for Down Under scene. 
Having his roots deeply grounded in what can only be expressed as the heart and soul of music, this DJ and a producer was honoured to be a part of Third Ear collective for more than a decade.  The backing provided by this outstanding label has helped him sustain his talent and, in turn, the label’s unconventional music concept has found its match in this artist. This addictive UK label has been the main force of inspiration for Velya’s upcoming EP. To use his own words: “Third Ear catalogue has been a pure essence of raw talent since its conception and the releases are always refreshing… it has been keeping the cutting edge feel from the very first release.”
