HOLY GRAIL ALERT!!! Following on 2021’s massive reboot of Midnight Magic’s seminal classic Beam Me Up, Razor-N-Tape have now unearthed a bit of NYC indie disco history with “I Found Love.”

Although recorded over 10 years ago in Midnight Magic’s nascent early period that produced many of their legendary hits, the song never received an official release; until now it has been heard only by select ears and lucky concert-goers. The package comes with a grip of luminous remixes by Dimitri From Paris & DJ Rocca, Sophie Lloyd, Perel and Derrick Carter, some solicited at the time of recording and some brand new, but all exceptionally fresh!

Here are some words about the song by the band:

"I Found Love" was recorded in a fever on the heels of releasing "Beam Me Up." New York dance music wizard Tommie Sunshine approached us about a co-write saying we should go as big as possible. So we did--it is one of our all time favorite vocal performances from our singer, Tiffany Roth. We had big plans, too, for a release but nothing quite felt right until meeting the Razor N Tape crew almost a decade later. Finally the stage is set, the lights are on, and we're ready. This song is very special to us because it is the last un-released recording featuring our late bandmate Jason Disu. This release is dedicated to him and his family.

PREMIERE: Harleatz - I'm Into You [Two Pizza's Label]

Pioneering NYC house label Nu Groove Records is proud to unveil a four-track EP of originals from fellow NYC house legend Jovonn.

After nearly three decades without a release, the cult house label relaunched in 2021 spearheaded by none other than Jovonn with ‘Random / Get Over It’. Following his ‘Funn Houze EP’ released earlier in 2023, the Brooklyn native is back with his ‘Blaque Katt EP’, a masterful display of innate musicality combined with an affinity for roaring ’90s-inspired club music.

For the lead, ‘The Piano Fix’, Jovonn creates a dichotomy between the delicate nature instrument and the heavy, sweaty feel of the dancefloor. This is followed by a harder pianistic technique in both ‘The Piano Fix Returns’ and ‘Let Me Tell You Somethin’, showcasing the producer’s flair for harmony and melody.

Closing the immersive collection is ‘Drop That Traxx’, a playful track featuring addictive, syncopated hooks over a pounding four-on-the-floor beat. Throughout the EP, Jovonn displays his talent for gritty, hard music made with tender care.

The 'Men In Love' album is set to be released on the same day (July 24th) as Irvine Welsh's new book 'Men In Love’, the sequel to the era-defining 'Trainspotting'.

The book is being released by the world's biggest publisher, Penguin Random House, already has pre-orders in the tens of thousands, and is expected to be a No.1 bestseller. The timing of the book is perfect as this summer will be all about the 90's with the Oasis tour starting on July 4th.

'Men in Love' is a collaborative concept album by Irvine Welsh and The Sci-Fi Soul Orchestra, exploring the complexities of love, relationships, and the human condition. The album blends classic Motown and disco influences with contemporary electronic dance production, creating a unique and powerful sound that is both nostalgic and fresh.

From soaring anthems to intimate ballads, 'Men in Love' takes the listener on a journey through the highs and lows of romance, celebrating the power of connection, vulnerability, and the enduring search for love in a chaotic world.

The album will be released concurrently with Welsh's new novel, also titled 'Men in Love'. The book is a sequel to Welsh's seminal work, ‘Trainspotting', and continues the story of Renton, Sick Boy, Spud, Begbie, and other beloved characters. The album serves as a sonic companion to the novel, with its themes, lyrics, and musical atmosphere reflecting the experience and inner turmoil of its characters. The album also introduces The Sci-Fi Soul Orchestra, a unique musical entity with their own unique music releases in the pipeline.

This second single, ‘You Gotta Be Strong’, is sung by Louis Marshall, who has regularly performed with David Gilmour (she's the ‘Great Gig In The Sky’ vocal!) and Jools Holland’s Rhythm and Blues Orchestra. Louise delivers a powerful ultimatum to her man about staying strong. 

As Irvine Welsh, who wrote all the lyrics on the album, explains:

"This is a woman, saying “alright, you’re a man in love, I get it and all that, but for god’s sake, shake up.” You know, there’s an element to love that’s like gritting your teeth, digging your heels in, not a 'bringing home the bacon' thing. It’s not all about going to the pub, going to raves and parties, or Instagram and celebrating how beautiful and wonderful and great we all are. It’s also about the nuts and bolts of showing up every day and being there for that person, every day and listening to everything that’s going on in their life, being strong for them and allowing them to be strong for you.”
