DeepWit Recordings returns with a superb new single from Finnish artist Venntaur. Based in the city of Tampere, Venntaur is a rising DJ and producer specializing in the deep, sophisticated, and melodic, with a rich history of genre experimentation. Here he presents two floor-approved cuts, leading with the rousing “You Got Feeling”. A solid kick drum accompanied by a Detroit-flavored bass line opens the track, and things soon get spicy as warm pads, a swingy hi-hat, and a garage-style vocal hook enter the scene. It’s elegant stuff, sure to give good vibes to many late nights. Tokyo’s Datakestra (Adaptation Music / UNKNOWN Season) is on hand to give “You Got Feeling” a classy rub-down, providing a modern interpretation that shimmies and shakes with sublime confidence.
￼“Just Once” follows, taking things a into a more submerged, sexier sonic realm. A rumbling low end is complimented with gentle chords, floating synth strings, and breathy vocal phrases, driven along by a crisp rhythm track. Australia’s Jason Mitchell – of the Deep House Aficionado label – is on hand for a sparser but energetic remix of “Just Once” that features a prominent bass line and well-placed vocal hits. The drum track is of a slightly quicker tempo and is embellished with nicely syncopated claps.
Venntaur’s two tracks and their remixes make for a fine single that will rightly suit DJs in an after-hours mood. Dive in.

This time we're happy and thrilled to present you a sick draft of new talents’ and friends’ music, ranging from Deep House to Techno, without forgetting the Hip Hop, Instrumental roots.

The latest missive from Acid Test has the label identifying with its hometown, Los Angeles, more than ever. LA-born Vienna resident and label mainstay Tin Man takes Vienna-born Angeleno resident John Tejada along for a four-track journey which dwells on the activity which defines life in the City of Angels, driving. Opener "Swiftbox" is a perfect amalgam of Auvinen and Tejada's respective styles— Tremulous 303 and complex minor key melodicism and deconstructed stabs. "Diamond Lanes" is another muscular acid cut with a subtle, swinging percussion. The Diamond Lanes in question can be used when you have a passenger in the car. When widescreen pads come in over jacking snares, you can picture the duo tearing through the iconic 2nd street tunnel out onto the 10 west towards the ocean, leaving the city's warehouse district in their wake. Label regulars Achterbahn D'amour reimagine "Diamond Lanes" as a skeletal electro roller with their remix version. The closer "Deep Traffic" is a bugged-out acid cut which captures the feeling of sitting alone in a crowd of autos, crawling towards eternal sunset.

Hypercolour proudly announce the latest long player from UK stalwart, Ed DMX AKA DMX Krew, the visionary British electronic producer who has been responsible for a slew of excellent releases for labels like Rephlex, Spectral Sound, Permanent Vacation and his own Breakin’ Records and Fresh Up Records since the mid 1990s.

‘You Exist’ is DMX Krew’s debut appearance on Hypercolour, and as expected the record features nine tracks of beautifully crafted, melodic electronic sounds.  From the opener ‘Spiritual Encounter’, DMX sets the tone perfectly with oodles of pitch perfect synth riffs and driving drums, working his way through snappy and bright pop moments like ‘Hard Copy’ to more melancholic, darker cuts like ‘Computational Paradigm Shift’.  DMX breezes in and out of electro techno territory to more contemplative IDM vibes with ease, testimony to the guy’s talent (that’s also seen him wear the hat of over 10 aliases throughout his career to date).

‘You Exist’ captures a very true and genuine musical form, produced and delivered with love from one of the scene’s unsung heroes, and makes it a great companion piece to another Hypercolour released album from similar stock (take your pick from Luke Vibert’s 2014 ‘Ridmik’ album or his latest Kerrier District LP).  A consistent and engaging album then from DMX Krew that will pleasure the ear buds of discerning listeners everywhere.
