PRESS RELEASE 

Ventolin – solo electronic project by David Doubek (Kazety), releases his first long play album, named Totem. Sonically, it draws from early raw Detroit sound of the 1986-88 period, from the fascination that sparked when the Roland TR808 drum machine and bassynth TB303 was synchronized for the first time, when acid techno was born. But Totem is not just simply acid techno. Its about landscapes, animals, border patrol and fighting the fear of watching into the darkness. The Totem is robotic from the outside but underneath the electro surface its ten very personal songs.  There are pop, metal, dubstep, folk elements too, acid is however the main mystery.

VENTOLIN ABOUT THE RECORD
"There is six new songs and four older unreleased hits produced so that they match the sound of the new material.  Also, there is a cover of a song by one of Czech greatest band Dunaj from 90's.  While being electronic, the album was produced completely without computers, using only „real“ instruments, hardware sequencers, synthesizers and samplers. I use  them because they have energy that I don't feel from software, even though its often harder to work with them. They are just like the animals that gets into lyrics of my songs. The final mix was done through an analogue Soundcraft board from the 80's to analogue tape. It was mastered by Ondřej Ježek. The album is released as joint venture of Ventolin and the Bumbum Satori org label. Design and visuals are created by The rodina design studio.

BIO
Ventolin is an electronic project by David Doubek, founding member of the band Kazety and member of the theatre Nejhodnější Medvídci (The Most Beautiful Teddies). Ventolin started in 2007 as side „relax“ dance project but very soon he made his name in Czech club scene and played loads of shows in Czech and Slovak republics. He shared stage with stars like Modeselector, The Presets and played festivals like Sperm and Wilsonic. For the live show he uses only old Akai MPC samplers, analogue synths and archaic drummachine Yamaha RX5. Ventolin loves the early sound of Detroit techno, Italian and Indian disco. He is attracted by the fuzzines and instabilities of analogue instruments, noise and imperfection. In 2009 he released the EP Mzitky. In the year of the end of the world the time has come for the Totem.
