Beautiful Mystery

“Kesho Kesho”, directly translates to, “tomorrow tomorrow,” in Swahili. This song title  comes from the Swahili proverb: “Leo ni Leo, Asemaye Kesho ni Mwongo”, calling us to take the here and now and cease postponing; even love. 
The song is written in two personas where the One is calling to his interest to deeper intimacy. 
The train-like guitar pulse keeps the song moving and bursts into a hopeful release of synths as the Love eventually answers the call to commitment. The intricately harmonized vocal arrangements literally feel like the rays of the sun piercing through a Nairobi cloudy day.
 The Afro-centric sonic influences make the music seem like it is moving through time; glimpsing into the past with our ancestors on the percussive Djembe then into the present with a blend of Afro influences and into a futuristic Africa; the ‘Wakanda’ we hope for. 
Vereso’s take on the parallels between romantic relationships and the ever evolving relationship between God and the church is a refreshing take on the Christian journey. It allows for personal reflection and interpretation.

Being the second single Vereso releases in 2020, Kesho Kesho, is a display of the versatility of the East African sound.

“Cotton – Candy Volcano” is unequivocally the most precise statement describing Vereso’s artistry. 
Her voice glides calmly over the music drawing you in and then explodes with a burst of emotion revealing the eclectic nature of her approach to sound and life.
As a classically trained pianist, she uses it to write elegant poetic lyrics that leave for personal  interpretation. 
Her debut album, Walk On, released in April 2016, incorporated sonic influences from a myriad of genres laid on an Afro foundation. Songs like Onte Kamake,has an Afro-Jazz feel; Mnaniona has eerie vocal arrangements.Her hit, Stuck in the Mud, has a Kwaito South African beat fused with East African Kapuka rhythms. Her spiritually transcendent experiences have led to her gracing stages like: the Blankets and Wine Festival , the Rift Valley Festival, Goethe Institut, Alliance Francaise and be a regular in the local and art scene.
Beautiful Mystery, released in May 2020, comes with a joyously playful sound; and  an Afro guitar lick carried through the song.
Vereso is releasing a new single every other month until the end of 2020. With
Kesho Kesho, coming up on the 3rd of July 2020 she says that this project has been influenced by the likes of Angelique Kidjo, Khadija Nin, Fatoumata Diawara, and Laura Mvula.Thus expect music that is Afro-centric and shows the versatility of the East African sound. This celebration of blackness comes at such a pivotal time where diversity of heritage is being celebrated.
