Here it is, finally!!!. My new instrumental rock/blues-boogie hybrid "Hard 'n Heavy" finally gets a release. A few setbacks along the way couldn't stop it, I couldn't stop it, and hopefully you won't be able to stop playing it either.

Hard 'n Heavy

A heavy tune that originated on Black Friday last year. I created a cool effect path for the bass guitar that really gives the tune a  push into some pretty heavy sounds. Pretty sure that sharks do not drink beer, so the title comes from the initial riff that I started with; a little Immigrant Song-ish riff that I found quite...frightening...like a Chug Shark.

The first riff is influenced by crazy circus music, you know the tune I am sure. That riff morphs into a soul flavored rhythm section with some lively guitar soloing to accompany it. That evolves into a punk rockish sort of jam to finish off the track. The whole tune was originally inspired by the crazy world that has cultivated here in the US and abroad in recent years. Overall...it's a Clown Show.

I just about did not get to post this track today, this week has been full of PC problems. But I managed to get that sorted out in time to publish   Having Funk Yet?, a piece over a year in the making. 
With my last track Clown Show garnering some attention, I thought it would be a good time to strike with another one to sort of keep the momentum going. With a lively funk rock feel and an interesting electrofunk section in the middle, joined together by some rather heavy segues,   Having Funk Yet? is sure to get you moving.

To celebrate the official birthstone of September, and my birthday month, I created this ambient piece. I built it around a repeating delay motif on my guitar and added some other guitar and synth parts to create a cinematic feel. It sounds really cool with headphones.
Oh, I forgot to mention...today is my birthday, so let's get Sapphire Crazy.

I started the atmosphere of Mr Tom last October, and after a few  sessions over the last 50 weeks I have finally created the character of Mr Tom. Who is Mr Tom you might ask?  I honestly have no idea, but without further accomplice, I introduce...Mr Tom.

This is a special release for Halloween, a ditty I created around a certain theme song that some may be familiar with. If not, maybe you'll find it entertaining at least.
Ten years ago I was in a little country band that also liked to play rock music, and we had a Halloween show to play in my little town. As we planned on dressing up for the show as Wolfman, Dracula, and Frankenstein, I thought it would be fun to have an intro theme song to help us to the stage; this is that song. Hope you have as much fun listening as I did re-visiting it for a new master treatment. Happy Halloween!!

Oh Herman 2023 Master

I actually recorded the bluesy mid-section jam first, but thought the tune needed something completely different to flesh it out. So I set out using a basic tom rhythm from Discreet Drums "Space Time" instant drummer from Sonoma Wireworks and built up the section layer by layer using various organ settings on my Roland Juno.
As for the title....the Space Time drummer is in 3/4 time signature.
So have a seat, grab a drink, and check out 3 Quarter Saturday...on Sunday!!!

A rocking song about people and the evil that rules us all. Part rock song and part protest song, Willickers paints a picture of the crazy, mixed up, INSANE world we live in.

Late last year I started putting this together to represent a direction  I would be exploring more this year. It grew out of that and into the monster I present here today. The inspiration for the song title comes from the apparent direction the world, and especially the US, is headed....Where We're Going there is no ice water!!

Haven't really done a heavy blues tune in awhile, so while playing around with an old distortion pedal, an original Boss HM-2 that I purchased in 1985, I came up with this raunchy sounding tone and put it to use in the blues idiom. The lyrics are a glimpse into the world of tripping, alluding to the coming down side of hallucinogens. No drugs were taken during the production of...Acid Blues.

The very first time I played a Casio keyboard as a teenager, I came up with what could best be described as Funeral music. Now, decades later, I own my own Roland keyboard and I happened upon the Church Organ setting, and figured what better time to revisit that old feeling. Long story short, I added a whole bunch of guitar parts and turned the whole thing into what you will hear today. So grab a Hearse and get ready for...a Funeral Trip.

New Attitude

A few years ago, in a Riffworld far far away, an old lad and I collaborated on a Celtic song. The title of which has slipped my mind, and because of a weird method of closing a website, the recorded version has been lost forever. So, in a tribute to my good friend MacMurphy, I have recorded this instrumental version of the tracks that I could salvage from my old damaged laptop harddrive. So Ray, if you listen to this, I hope you will remember the fine job you did with lyrics and vocals on this Irish style pub tune. Though I cannot remember them or the name you gave my song, I will always remember the feeling of pride I had when we made this tune together. I always though it was cool to be able to make music with this guy from Ireland, as I am half Irish as well.
   So cheers Ray and to all our fellow ex Riffworlders. Enjoy my Irish Roots instrumental. This may be my best solo ever.
   PS-While recording this tune, I drank a Killians Red Irish style beer and dedicated the session to an old bandmate of mine named Tim "Redman" Hogan. RIP Tim, I miss you my friend.

Irish Roots

A song about moving. a dozen years ago I moved from California to South Dakota. So I wrote a song about it. Remixed with Riffworks, I redid the vocals and then mastered it with Ozone7.

A song about life, and how I made it to where I am today. Similar to "No Way To Live", it is a story from my life, albeit a more positive story from my life. I had not originally intended it to be a love song, but I think it kind of ended up as one. As the title alludes to, I recorded this song about 3 years ago, but just this year I have mastered it to give it, I think, a much clearer sound.
Recorded and mixed using Riffworks software. Mastered using Ozone7 software.
I took the picture at sunset with my iPhone7, and enhanced the color with NCH Suite photo imaging software.

Reminiscence 2017

Here's the first of a four part, sort of concept idea about difficult people. The first installment, Heavy Stones, is about the trials and tribulations of dealing with people who are just a pain in the ass to deal with. I am sure you all know someone like this.
The next installment will deal more with how dealing with these people really makes you feel.
I have written these songs because of all of the people who are out there messing up the world, who will not listen to reason, and do not seem to wanna stop what they are doing. They are tearing our world apart, all because they are mad and do not know how to control themselves. I am sure you can figure out who these people are.

Heavy Stones

I resurrected this old track from a few years ago. I had never finished it, so I got out the Roland synth and played around with some new sounds. I ended up rearranging the tune a little bit as I added some strings and french horns to the arrangement.
It starts out a little mellow, but soon builds up to a crescendo, as it slips out into a breeze...reflecting old times.
The chord progression was something that I came up with in 1984 as I learned to play guitar. 
So sit back and relax, and reflect on Old Times.

A long time ago, in a galaxy far, far away, I tuned my Les Paul to the drony DADGAD modal tuning, and decided not to record the typical song you might come up with using this semi-exotic tuning.
As I love both metal and funk, and have been influenced by both of these genres, this sort of funky metal fusion jam came out of that session.
Fast forward a few years...I brought it out of hibernation and added some horns and sax to give it an authentic funk feel. I am pleased with how it turned out, so I give you...

A Funky DADGAD

I started this song last summer and have been building on it since. The original idea that I started with had to do with how people change their ideals and beliefs so easily, attaching themselves to other peoples anger and falsehoods without really considering the validity of those things....wow, that was way too deep to create lyrics around. But I kept the title the same.
While considering ideas for lyrics, feeling a bit melancholy and uninspired, I went to a rhyming website and began building verses around my feelings. Yeah, I know, that is pretty deep too, but I just kind of went with it.
Anyway, here is my song Cult of Spaghetti....oddly enough, it is neither about cults nor spaghetti.

Recorded the day after a really big thunderstorm back in August, this is a relaxing piece with some electronic embellishments...a flute, some scratchy casio-type drums...and an acoustic guitar playing arpeggios topped off with an improvisational electric guitar with some dirt, it all comes.... After the Storm.

This song, like Your Delusion that I published earlier this year, is an older tune that I have remixed and remastered form the older version. This song tells the story that a coworker told me years ago about this overly dominant, really crazy girl that he dated. Apparently, she was really kinky!!!! His story, not mine.
It also seems a little appropriate for the current condition we are in, with stay home orders and self quarantining (???) a must, so we are told....when this is all over, don't be surprised if someone you know wants to...Touch You.

Touch You - 2020

When this Coronavirus pandemic hit the world, it left a lot of people in the dark, afraid to breath fresh air or be anywhere close to anyone else. Some of us use humor to deal with bad situations, so I recorded this tune with using that humor in mind....so here we are, Living On Covid Time.

Living On Covid Time

This little number is totally inspired by my cat Sixx Vicious (pictured in all his round glory). It starts out with some crunchy blues in a straight forward 4/4 groove, and than morphs into a slow 6/8 groove before exploding into a full gallop 6/8 groove.
Towards the end it slows back down into a shuffle rhythm that fades into a rather different ending...surprise!!!! It's Chonkers.

As last year closes, a new year opens. Other than that little has changed here at Dungeon of Doom Studio. I will continue to put out honest music, created right here by me, throughout the coming year. I have a few ideas recorded already, some heavy and some not, which I will finish putting together and releasing in the coming months.
