Hailing from Asheville, NC, in the American South, Dzee manages to blend instantly recognisable durty southern US trap and rap sounds, with the regimentation and thump of Detroit electro, to create a truly pumping and unique Electro vibe on this one. He's an amazingly talented producer as well as being one of the head honcho's at Tram Planet Records.

For April's edition of RAIDAR on @refugeworldwide hosts @som_bi and @djfuckshimself invited living legends @neanatrax and @auco23 on the show! The two DJs and Producers, who are also known as INFINITE QUEST are killing games left & right - the radio game with their eonymous show on Cashmere Radio, the production game with their past and upcoming releases and of course the party game in an old and bygone era - they should be wanted criminals. Luckily they just came around to play an amazing guest mix and answer a few questions about the many, many things they do. Meanwhile DJFH and $ombi played some of their favorite recent bangers, released and unreleased, so press play and lay back! Also no worries: The audio gets better over time.

RAIDAR w/ $ombi & DJFH ft. INFINITE QUEST - April 2021 - Refuge Worldwide

The soundtrack of the audiovisual art piece Apophenia by Lasse Gudmand-Høyer.

Entrancing noise, apophenic visuals, and provoking presentations.

Apophenia is a sonically centred multidisciplinary work, that seeks to explore the in between and parallels of, sound-experience, performance, participation and visualisation. The project is anchored by a recurring soundtrack that takes the form of a collaborative, predominantly industrial, techno production, curated by Lasse Gudmand-Høyer. Meaningful patterns emerge in the rhythmic composition of vacuous noise, that simultaneously feel deeply disturbing and intensely entrancing. The 12 tracks, produced by a mix of Copenhageners- and internationals, lay the sonic foundation for Apophenia's two pillar components - an enigmatic video exhibition and a staged, performative rave. The album captures feelings of intense apophenia, visualised as movement of bodies in a highly instinctive, Rorschach's inkblot-like, diversity of interpretation.

The first physically manifested element of the project is a visual exhibition at inter.pblc. This experience, dubbed by the vacuous and entrancing soundtrack, consists of a film displayed on a large LED screen and a virtual reality headset. The video acts as an enigmatic, yet engaging, examination of the, otherwise reserved, rave topography. It features a collection of moving bodies, collectively, yet separately, entranced by the apophenic noise around them. Seeing these bodies and their movement, captured through a 360 degree camera lens, allows the viewer to attain a deeply immersive perspective from an active participant’s point of view. The film itself spawns a unique and eerie feeling, among the observer, that oscillates between that of a non-existing surveillant and a deeply involved participant. The VR headset functions, not as a central aspect of the exhibition, but merely as a dynamic angling tool that decides the video's rotational point of view. The purpose of the exhibition is to display a collection of moving bodies in a catalog-like display of conceptual personas. It acts as a teaser for the final aspect of the project.

Apophenia's culminating element is a rave at Basement in Copenhagen. Here, the soundtrack meets the visual representation of the exhibition in the most literal way. At its' center, this concluding part of the work is an exercise in connecting the parallels between sound-experience, performance, -participation and -visualisation, in the context of what seems to be no more and no less than a rave party. Yet, the event itself is staged with a performance-like auction of the conceptual ownership of the moving bodies, displayed at the inter.pblc exhibition, where all profits are donated to charity. The act, which in itself seems ethically controversial, seeks to comment on the duality of activism and monetisation by selling bodies as concepts, who, in the specific scenario, are no different than the observer, turned active participant.

PREMIERE: DJ LOSER - Experiment In Noise 1 (Apophenia OST)

Get geared up and locked in for our 6th instalment with Spiderdog!!

I first met Lachie aka Spiderdog partying at Sub Club, and it was clear very early on that his eye for track selection and curation was incredibly unique and stood out from many others in the hard dance scene. The energy he translates in his sets and mixes is one of a kind 😊

A DJ and artist based between The Gadigal lands of Eora Nation and The Wurundjeri Lands of the Kulin Nation, he's brought an increasingly relentless sound to parties such as Hex Yellow, Control, INSTASIS, 4D Festival and a number of renegade raves.

He first got his start djing when he was 16/17 on Gadigal Land (Sydney) either participating or running events. “It’s always been part of my life since I’ve been an ‘adult’…but I just wanted to try DJing so I bought an old pair of cdj’s and a mixer when I was around 25 and then here we are!” 

He’s left his mark not only through his hard hitting sets, but also iconic moments such as this doozy from a Channel 707 rave in Eora (Sydney) “- the cops moved in and I tried to escape the pepper spray by climbing the walls of the warehouse. After giving them a Gandalf-esque speech in my white fur coat/short shorts combo about wanting to “eat the bacon” I fell around 5m like a wet towel and had to be rescued by a bunch of guys hahahaha.”

The mix itself was largely inspired by his surroundings, albeit stuck in his apartment near the iconic Coke sign of Darlinghurst.  “Pretty much all tracks are from people I really love and admire, both close friends, peers and then people I watch from afar. I’ve wanted to put all of these tracks into mixes but haven’t been able to make any of them work so far….then like suddenly they all came together and it worked haha. I guess it’s quite a sentimental mix.
I’m also keen on pushing other forms of energy rather than my usual mega hammer slammer vibe, creating mixes such as this one where I don’t get immediately carried away and take it straight to hell, but without losing my high nrg power.” Stand out tracks include “- a track in this mix I got off a CD called ‘MIDI SAI HIT PARADE’ when I was 17, it’s called U_Like_Monkey_Karkalush by Ove-Naxx and I was absolutely obsessed with it for years, I even played it at my 18th birthday in lieu of a speech hahaha. I’ve been wanting to put it into a mix for years and it kinda just seemed to work here. The same goes for the Dragon’s Den theme from Pokemon Gold version which immediately follows!
There’s also an unreleased track from Obelisk in there which may just be comin out on a new Australian label soon teehee.”

His current obsessions have been a chaotic, genre spanning mix but his main are two Djs Clarity (Canada) and Technokool (Hungary). “They both just consistently deliver the most insane sets and are always down for a chat which I appreciate, honestly two of the best living Djs atm IMO.”

You can also find him as the mastermind behind MEGANESIA. Drawing it’s name from the continental plate so-called Australia sits on, a radio show featured on Area3000 and upcoming label platforming a range of Hard Dance artists from across Aus. “(We’ll) be launching into releases in early 2022. Got 15 of the coolest most talented artists on board so stay tuned!“

Resonance mix 006: Spiderdog

Saint Petersburg duo Alexander Temnikov and Valery Melekhin produce an eclectic raw electronic album tinged with IDM lofi elements and complex broken beats. Taking in elements of various genres while at the same time producing tracks that are truly authentic and novel.

пацаны44 translates into ‘’Patsany44’’ or in english’ ’boys44”. The true meaning is more nuanced and can be read as ‘’guys from the street, hood guys, hooligans, friends’’. The name is meant to represent the duos upbringing in the city of Sverdlovsk 44, which is located in the Urals, built around a uranium plant.

The duo was inspired by music engendering the end of 90's early 00's such as IDM,DnB and traditional electronics from that time frame.The creative output and vision of electronic music which inspires this album bears the imprint of that experience.
