"If you like your grooves funk-fuelled and analog, then look no further than James Curd’s rather glorious triple track ep. ‘Checking Out NYC’ is a growling plucked bass, tight vocal cries, trickling keys and a spoken word vocal for extra cool. The piano chords go to church, amping up the energy all the way, whilst the 303s add that acid burble that gives rave reflux a good name. ‘Vertigo’ is a crisp snare and bungee bassline dance off that will make the old skool househeads lose their shit and make the nu-schoolers green with nu-acid house envy. What marks it out from the acid house wish they weres is that it layers on a tropical steel drum top line that is so beautifully musical and hooky that you can’t help but love it. Like the lyric says ‘At first I’m feeling high, then i’m feeling low, i’m trying to keep my focus, feels like vertigo’… We live this out on the dancefloor. It speaks to us. It gets my vote for this lyric alone. ‘Dance and Dash’ is an upbeat treat with double bass, 808s, bottle hits and steel drums going in and hard at it with the odd vocal whoop just for fun. James Curd has been busy with scoring and supervising movie soundtracks in the last months but finally found time to deliver new music. He has been collaborating with Filip from Daytime Discoact Poolside from LA as well as Chicago Legend DJ Deeon. Upcoming releases include cult Chicago label Trax Records, Repopulate Mars (Lee Foss’ new label - including mixes from Lee Foss himself and Felix Da Housecat), Eskimo, Sweat It Out and us: Exploited:) We can’t clearly remember how many Old Chi Acid House Tracks he sent us but in the end here are the 3 tracks we chose. Grand Plans is a new imprint from DJ & Producer Scott Diaz, who currently splits his time between the US and the UK. The much anticipated launch release is an EP featuring four original tracks from the label boss himself, and in many ways is a mission statement defining the labels music policy of releasing well-crafted records that are raw, soulful and honest. Heavyweight support comes from Maya Jane Coles, Tensnake, Till Von Sein, Giom, Shur-i-Kan, Eric Kupper, Riva Starr, Fish Go Deep, Laurent Garnier, Sam Divine, Timmy P, Robert Owens and many more. 

Whichever sub-strain of house or garage he turns his hand to, it would be fair to say that Scott has firmly cemented his place as one of the most exciting producers to emerge in recent years. His peers would seem to agree, with the likes of Huxley, Maya Jane Coles, MK, Sam Divine, Tensnake, Shiba San and Low Steppa all playing and supporting his music. Traxsource featured an impressive 12 of his records in their 'Best of 2014' lists as well as placing him in their top 50 deep house artists at the end of both 2014 and 2015. In February of 2016 his ‘Shakedown EP’ on Simma Black hit the top 50 on Beatport with the rough n’ rugged 3-tracker receiving overwhelming support from a diverse range of DJ’s, critics and music fans alike.

Baby Luck aka Brittany Ballard features on Find Me with her first ever vocal recording. ​Mysterious producer Person Of Interest lines up the five track ‘Eclipse’ EP forthcoming on his very own Exotic Dance Records imprint, which features the melodic and blissful anthem titled ‘Skyline(Angel's Theme)’.

Residing in Queens, NY, Person Of Interest is fueled by a creative environment, as he is roommates with a collective of underground electronic innovators in DJ Wey/Xanax, Will DiMaggio, and J. Albert. His material has landed on L.I.E.S., Clone's Royal Oak, Future Times and now he will grace his Exotic Dance Records once again.

On producing ‘Skyline(Angel's Theme)’, he says the process felt like channeling an outside source: “The track came together so easily like someone else was making it. In retrospect the tune reminds me of like a car commercial or something you'd hear at a car wash in Florida. Been real into street racing and drifting lately, the track is named after the legendary Nissan and Japanese highway. I would play this driving on a sunny mountainous road perhaps.”

​Romanian duo Livio & Roby supply their standout track ‘Tidal Reshape’ to Vakant’s ‘Tenacity’ compilation.

Showcasing the somewhat minimal, yet driving sound that’s been coming strong out of their native country’s underground scene, Livio & Roby fire off a mesmerizing display of rhythm and sophistication.

Ahead of the compilation’s release, Livio & Roby touched on what inspires them in the studio: “We find influence and inspiration in many forms, sometimes it can be the consequence of a freshly read book, a new movie or classical/jazz concert, new experiences, our friends and family also inspire us in many ways… One time we moved our studio gear to a mountainside in Romania and we started to create. We find sometimes it's necessary to move from your main space to have some fresh air and ideas. That's how we made ‘Tidal Reshape’”.

Composed of ten tracks, the ‘Tenacity’ compilation also features music from Alex Smoke, Sons Of Tiki, Anonym, Tolga Fidan, Nico Purman and Non-Operational People.

The ‘Tenacity’​ compilation is released on April 3.

Premiere: Livio & Roby 'Tidal Reshape'

In preparation for the release of his second album titled ‘Electric Lines’, Joe Goddard shares a remix of his yearning ballad ‘Home’ by electronic innovator Morgan Geist.

By highlighting the infectious bassline and sincere vocals, Geist strips back the original and kicks up the energy with hard hitting percussion. Adding in subtle grooves from the hook that’s reminiscent of the disco-era showcases its soulful essence and dancefloor focused style.

Goddard touched on the vision behind the original and Morgan’s rendition: "The original song was designed to be the ultimate successor to ‘Promised Land' by Joe Smooth. I wanted Morgan to remix the track so that the naive positivity of the song would be tempered by his gnarled New York house attitude, and he delivered!”

To complement the original, ‘Home’ was given an official music video directed and animated by Pete Fowler, which touches on the thoughts and emotions one has when returning home from a night out clubbing.

The Greco-Roman co-founder’s first solo album since 2009 consists of 10 new tracks and will be released on April 21 via Greco-Roman/Domino.

Route 94's latest 'Mind, Body, Soul' EP is some of the best output we've heard from the producer and one of the tracks is a collaboration with UK house hero Matt Tolfrey. It's a stand-out of the record and it'll blow the roof off any club it's played in. 

It's a pulsating roller that uses thick, venomous basslines as the central pont of the track and we can't stop listening to it. Listen below.

Keeping things largely underground, he followed with releases and remixes on Leftroom, Defected and Hot Creations. Overwhelming success ensued as he performed at the likes of fabric, Sub Club, Space, Ushuaia, DC10 and many more. Burgeoning DJ and producer Bontan makes his debut on the notorious Hot Creations label. Hotly anticipated, the release features two original cuts to fuel his rising profile.

UK based Bontan has been using title track The First Time as his secret weapon for the last six months and is now finally unleashing it. “I’ve been testing it and tweaking it play by play!’ he explains. ‘The vocal compliments the rolling bass melody and gives it a darker edge”. This a producer who fully understands how to create a track for a heaving dancefloor. Personal Question is the second cut and flips the mood entirely with a twisted vocal entwined in beeps and percussion, whilst stirring the sentiments of lost early hours.

A firm favourite in the underground scene, he has built a solid reputation with releases on Circus Recordings, 20/20 Vision, and Cajual among others.
