The Dark Side Of The MINIMAL TECHNO

AEON and label boss Alex Niggemann are thrilled to welcome Denis Horvat back to AEON for another smashing EP, this time with the superb three-tracker ‘Minor’.

Previously releasing on Noir Music, Upon You, Get Physical and Souvenir, not to mention his stellar release on AEON last year, the Danish producer is getting his just desserts after years of meticulously curating and creating stellar music.

Here we have a hat trick of all encompassing cuts, and although bursting with the oomph you need for a heads down, hands up main room stomp, these tracks offer you more than just a 4’4 beat and a soundtrack to your rave, thanks to the skill and careful attention Horvat has put into each one.

Captivating from the off, Minor is a melancholic yet rapid composition of layered synth chords and percussion. As your heart starts to race, the energy continues to build with the track ‘DIY’, complete with driving bassline, reverb and effective distortion.

Rounding off on a high, ‘Cedevita’ brings the pulse back up again with another meticulously programmed latticework of drums, bass, and unadulterated dance floor decadence, with that added ambience of intrigue that goes hand in hand with Horvat’s productions.

Through this solid EP, the producer continues to create dense, barnstorming techno beats complete with that extra signature darkness.

Release Info: 
Sol Selectas is a US label headed up by Sabo whose ethos of spiritual wellbeing and cultural diversity runs through the very foundation of the imprints music policy. 

Focused towards house music, often with melodic elements and rich percussive textures, the label has a strong sense of community and has featured contributions from the likes of Blond:ish, UNER, Acid Pauli and Nicola Cruz plus many others.

Each year Sol Selectas releases its mammoth Summer Sol compilation on the day of the summer solstice, which according to astronomy, is the year’s longest day of sunshine. The 2018 Summer Sol compilation is the third in the series, and there is already big expectations with the first two having both charted as top selling releases on Beatport.

Featuring on Summer Sol III is new music from Sabo himself along with tracks by Sol Selectas regulars such as Armen Miran, Canson, and Amentia, plus artists like Fatoumata and Ali Kuru, who are both making their debut on the label. 

Outside of Sol Selectas the artists included on this various artist compilation have featured on more labels than it’s possible to mention, but many of the artists have featured imprints like KATERMUKKE, Chapter 24 Records, Bar 25 Music, Crosstown Rebels and Parquet Recordings.

Each of the tracks are a short musical tale that makes up a part of the overall story being told by the LP, and embracing cultural diversity features vocal samples and lyrics from eight different languages. 

Some of the tracks are down tempo electronica and others are peak time house music, but each has its own special part of the dance floor. The artwork is also an important part of Sol Selectas,
as its design is carefully curated by Sabo’s fiancé Helia Jamali who captures the sound of each release with her stylish art design.

microcastle's second offering of 2020 welcomes MULYA to the label for his debut EP. The Hungarian artist first came to our attention in 2017 with an EP for MoBlack Records. Now following an EP for Adana Twins’ TAU imprint to begin the year, MULYA debuts on microcastle with 'Chrome Extra'. 

Spread across five tracks, MULYA’s microcastle debut is an eclectic blend of electronica, disco, indie-dance and melodic house. Emotionally charged throughout, the journey begins with the broken beats and electric grooves of ‘Out of Sync’. It’s pensive overlays and warped arps make for a compelling first act, before a cinematic break shifts the narrative into a tense yet spirited finale of pulsating rhythms and tantalizing acid hooks. The energy continues to rise with the disco-infused grooves of ‘Frisco’. Possessing a dramatic undercurrent, punchy kicks and detailed percussion create waves of energy at the outset. Fiery lines add mightily to it’s hypnotic drive, eventually melting down into a canopy of charming overlays. As the breakdown reaches a euphoric peak a flurry of drums transfers energy into an exhilarating drop and thrilling final movement.
