Enter Planet Dust's next release is our first album, courtesy of Manuel Jesus aka World Wild Web. His debut LP will follow lead single Cursed Fruits which drops on March 31st. 

World Wild Web's organ, guitar and drum machine-led music nods to the global Cosmic continuum, and explores themes of anxiety, overconsumption and Web 3.0. The album features creative and catchy vocal dance tracks in both English and French (Colony, La Nuit, Je Mange Des Animaux, The Best Is Yet To Come), scrappy guitar anthems (Pills, Don't Quit!, Scrolling) and exotic Cosmic joints aplenty (PA 2, M-Gola, Druid Dance). Vancouver artist Kristen Roos' Universal Synthesizer Interface Vol II celebrates algorithmic Music Making

In a realm where magic and technology intertwined, Kristen Roos was a renowned adventurer. Armed with her trusty sword and enchanted armour, she set out on a quest to conquer the treacherous world of Diablo I. Little did she know, her journey would transcend the boundaries of the virtual realm.

As she battled demons and explored labyrinthine dungeons, whispers of her exploits reached the ears of We Are Busy Bodies, a secret guild of mystical beings. Impressed by her valour, they summoned her to their hidden sanctuary.

There, they bestowed upon Kristen ancient scrolls and enchanted melodies, enhancing her skills and infusing her weapons with arcane power. With her newfound abilities, she became a legendary warrior, feared by demons and revered by her fellow adventurers.

Kristen Roos, the champion of Diablo I, now stood as a beacon of hope, protecting the realm from the forces of darkness. Her name would forever be etched in the annals of tales of that time, a symbol of courage and determination.

Kristen Roos' The album pays homage to the early era of algorithmic music making, inspired by vintage software. Roos stumbled upon Laurie Spiegel's 'Music Mouse' on a Commodore Amiga floppy disk, a groundbreaking MIDI sequencer from 1985. Intrigued by its simplicity, Roos delved further into this 'first wave' of music software development.

Vol II of Universal Synthesizer Interface focuses on two personal favourites: 'Music Mouse' and Frank Balde's 'Diablo.' The album showcases the interaction between repeating loops, forming vast tapestries of sound. Roos spent over a year studying, experimenting, and collaborating with software creators to craft this musical journey.

Back in 2017 Tear Apart Tapes released "Run", a song by Shakkatam. John Talabot immediately connected with it and played it as the closing in many of his dj sets. We are now grateful to present "Run" in a new context, with three covers from artists we admire: Cucina Povera, Céline Gillain and Dania.

The original song and Dania's cover are out now. Full release and vinyl will be available in October.

You’ve heard Stuart Bogie before because he’s played saxophone, clarinet, and flute on a lot of records. TV On The Radio, Foals, Sharon Van Etten, Beth Orton, Alanis Morrisette, Taylor Swift, Run the Jewels, the list goes on and on and on.

We connected with Stuart during the early clutches of COVID through Korey Richey, DFA house engineer and LCD Soundsystem band member.

Stuart had been cooped up in the apartment that he shared with his partner, Karyn, and their family. Bored and seeking some relief, he started playing clarinet on Instagram Live every day for his friends, eventually soliciting drones and other sounds from others that he could play along to.

Korey knows Stuart, and so he asked James if he had anything lying around. Uncharacteristically, James said yes. The first was a drone of treated piano made in the 90s. The other was a long, similarly droning, though slightly darker organ piece made for a fashion show in the mid-2000s. Stuart played over both in separate sessions, improvising these beautiful, delicate clarinet runs for the sheltered, live-streaming few.

We listened back to the recordings in the office and couldn’t shake how great they were, a decompressing balm to the heaviness of the persistent world ending. They deserved a more meaningful existence than that of a shitty MP3.

So, Stuart came into the studio here and recorded over each drone again. This time Korey ran him through a stack of KORG delay units that stretched and smeared that clarinet into each drone until they were one delirious whole. Each recording clocked in at roughly 20 minutes - perfect side-long lengths. It all fell into place so naturally.

“Morningside,” produced by Korey and James, mixed by James, and mastered and cut by Bob Weston, is the result of this long, serendipitous journey. It’s out October 27.

A final, but important note: the cover features a detail of a photograph called “The Burial Vault” by Gregory Crewdson, taken from his recent series “Eveningside.” (The full photograph is featured on a printed insert inside the record jacket.) A few months earlier, Gregory was finishing what would become “Eveningside” and asked James (a friend) if he might, y’know, have any music lying around. A video was being made about the new work and music was needed. James sent these tracks, which evidently sort of stopped Gregory in his tracks. The symbiosis was so natural that Stuart also finally found the title he’d been searching for (until that point, we’d been calling the record simply “Clarinet and Delay.”) You can view the film and a bit more back story here on Gregory’s Substack.
