Sin Afuera (“Without Outside”) is the new collaborative EP from Chilean producer @Imaabs, label manager of NAAFI and cofounder of Máquina Simple, and @OtherIslands, a vocalist and producer from London’s underground club scene. Both based in Mexico City, the two artists share a close creative partnership shaped by a mutual interest in exploring the limits of global electronic music.

The EP’s title refers to the myth of closed systems—those that define themselves by casting an outside as dissident, migrant, or simply noise, and enforcing its exclusion. Through hybridity, dissonance, and distortion, the record traces the contours of this outside, imagining other ways of being in the world.

Released via NAAFI, the four tracks draw on and destabilize the rhythmic logics of dembow, baile funk, grime, dancehall, reggaeton, and jungle. Frenetic percussion and glistening synths meet expansive sound design: ASMR flickers, field recordings, and fragments of unintelligible speech bleed through swung grooves and shimmering textures. The result is a sound that is luminous and tense, shot through with longing and evoking a space that feels at once intimate and yet out of reach.
