Hailing from University of the Philippines - Manila, affiliated by UP Musicians' Organization (UP MOrg), Vertex Luneta is a five-piece pop rock band, originally started with four members, three of them had their first practice at Chinese Garden of Luneta Park, two being the proponents of the band's existence, with one passion that unites them all - music.

Vertex Luneta is an almost-a-year initiative of Jeplog Querubin and Kevin Roderno, which by that time, has no final name and members yet. The interest was revived by Sherwin Lucero when he learned the music interests of Jeplog being the same as his. Choices were made hard for the bass and percussion duties but got stuck happily with Marx Molina (bass) and EJ Rempillo (drums; originally Kevin Roderno but declined due to busy schedule).

Having the line-up furnished, Jeplog, Sherwin and Marx had their first practice in Chinese Garden at Luneta Park for the anniversary concert of their organization without a name yet (EJ was not present due to a personal appointment). Options for band name included Two Hours To Zero, Kuya Wag Po, Kilometer Zero, Pedro Faura and many more. They got stuck with Vertex Luneta instead due to the discovery of the three having the same travel time of 2 hours to their meeting point (or their "vertex") for their first practice, which was at Luneta. Then, the band was born in November 2013.

Three months later, Jerome Gonzalvo entered the scene to take rhythm guitar duties to have Jeplog focus on vocals. The band hit the independent road with their first single, "Manatili" as one of the tracks in MOrg Mix 8 album of UP Musicians' Organization.
