We have another excellent episode of Bside Incoming for you!

Made in London by two good friends and flat mates bouncing off each other's Bside selections. Digging through the very finest of the flip side we have Jake and Benjamin, AKA 1-800 Girls and Par Avion.

With a background in New Wave bands and a renown for high octane DJ sets, 1-800 Girls' productions usually sit somewhere between the two. The nostalgic warmth of hardware productions and the hard hitting energy that often defines his dance floor selections.

Par Avion is a selector who runs a collective and imprint by the same name, as well as the Mutual Trust events with Salary Boy. Expect everything from deep and soothing electronica through to vibrant house and disco edit, soul, funk, acid, afro, breakbeats and everything in between.

Shall Not Fade celebrate their 50th release after 5 years of the label with an all-time favourite and long-time friend, the inimitable Byron the Aquarius. Returning to SNF for his second release on the label, the keyboardist, DJ and producer marks the labels milestone release perfectly. Sunsoaked house with a penchant for acid lines, jazz inspired keys and a bumpin’ groove, What Up Doe? Vol.2 is Byron at his best. A sonic homage to the very beginning for us.

Opener ‘She Want To Work It’ is a masterclass in low-key sass and class, referencing warm, dusty hip-hop beats and daydreams, as it shifts into a luscious, vox heavy kick and clap groove. Futuristic acid lines bubble up on seemingly dreamy dub number, into glitchy electro realms on ‘I Can Feel It’, before imploding into full-blown sci-fi territory on the flip. Here, ‘Apes of Mars pt.2.’ is all nostalgia inducing samples and jazzy melodies, meandering between crunchy beats. Next up, ‘Cosmic Raindance’’s enigmatic, sultry sci-fi vibes bring the EP to new levels. MDMA is back with Byron and the pair are on another planet with this post-watershed jackin’ house, bleeping out into the ether. Rounding out the EP nodding to his love for hip-hop and shimmery keys, ‘Can We Do It Again’ is Byron to the bone. Soulful, infectious house music which we can't get enough of.

This is a tribute mix to some of the first dance records I bought. All my early purchases of this kinda of stuff came from boot fairs or charity shops, hunting for the obvious names and labels, Marshall Jefferson, Larry Heard, Strictly Rhythm, Bottomline and Nervous Records. Once purchased, they’d get shelved after being played a mere once or twice. Now, years later with fresh ears and an unhealthy appetite for early New York, New Jersey and Chicago Deep House their context had now changed.
