Beautiful. I had all the singles back in the day but have lost them over the years. I recently got the singles for Flowers Bloom and Deep love with extra tracks. I also just located the Flowers Bloom single that I had from 1996. I remember buying it and playing it so many times. The version of Enough Love (produced by Michael Aide?) is the version I prefer over the softer version on Empathy.

A tweet recently from someone talking about the magnificent Cocteau Twins made me think of this remix that Robin Guthrie did for me and Nicola back when we were Mandalay. I thought I really should put this up on SC. Robin is a really lovely bloke and hanging out with him at the Cocteau's September Sound studios by the river Thames whilst he worked on this fantastic version of our song is something I will always remember with a kind of "did that really happen?" sort of feeling. We just kept thinking "it sounds like the Cocteau Twins - oh my god! Can we stay here please?"

A song built around a vocal stem by Zefora. When I first discovered Zefora on SC  my immediate thoughts were 'I would love to work with her vocals, I then discovered that she had posted a number of vocal stems. I down loaded a selection and got to work. This is this result.
Thanks for making them available it has been an enjoyable, challenging and creative experience.

We thought about releasing new (and re-worked) Mandalay material and wrote a few tracks but it didn't go ahead.

In the early 1990s I was half of the duo Thieves with the extraordinarily talented David McAlmont (who went on to have a couple of magnificent hits with Bernard Butler after he left Suede). We were signed to Virgin Records and found ourselves in the clutches of the inevitable advance-chasing dodgy managers and of course it all went hideously wrong before the release of our debut album. Years later when we could talk to one another without the interference of vested interests around us, we realised we really did like each other and had no idea why we allowed ourselves to be manipulated to such a degree. Youth, eh?

After Thieves I formed the duo Mandalay with Nicola Hitchcock. We released 3 albums for V2 records in the 1990s till we called it a day in 2001. We were lucky enough to work with such stellar talents and lovely people as Steve Jansen (yep, from Japan), Jon Hassell, Guy Sigsworth, Robin Guthrie (Cocteau Twins) and the legendary Danny Thompson. Mandalay got lots of favourable attention from the music press and fellow artists and we got to play alongside people like Moby and Nitin Sawney. In the US we even sold a fair few albums and our songs featured on programmes like 6 Feet Under, CSI, La Femme Nikita etc. Madonna called us her favourite band of 2001 - that may have been the beginning of the end for us.

After Mandalay I went on to write music for TV, film and adverts before eventually drifting away from music for nearly 9 years. In 2013 I started making music again.
