FLUXIONS explores the perpetually changing soundscapes lying at the intersection of techno, electro, and breaks. A "fluxion" is the original mathematical term for "instantaneous rate of change" --  each episode immerses listeners in a world where soundscapes transform and mutate in real-time, weaving between hypnotic atmospheres, pulsating beats, heavily swung percussion lines, and distorted motifs.

Always dig with an open mind and continue to learn about the history of the communities and genres/artists that inspire you. don’t constrain yourself to one genre or one vision of yourself - trust your ear, lean into change and new directions, your artistic identity is a constant journey! surround yourself with people that inspire you and push you to grow, but don’t compare yourself to them. Pace yourself - burnout is real!!

About the mix: This was recorded back in April at Vitarave 006, one of my favorite diy events Vitamin1000 throws annually in the Southern California desert - a friends + fam renegade celebrating our community and honoring how our collective started :) I leaned into the dark liminal space the desert can have at night - this mix blends some of my favorite tracks filled with punchy and electro-infused rhythms, bubbly and lush leads, and bass/dubstep/dnb surprises that I’ve been enjoying sprinkling into my sets.

San Francisco-based Vertigo captivates crowds with her dissonant and syncopated cuts, creating genre-bending sets with a distinctly punchy and aggressive style of mixing. The Vitamin1000 resident delivers an eclectic blend of glitchy textures, dub-inspired melodies, and gritty bass lines, immersing listeners in a world where soundscapes mutate in real-time across texture-heavy selections. She is also one part of duo CYBER1A alongside bad juuju, a project exploring high energy techno, electro, and breaks with deep, bouncy bass.

This was recorded at the Direct to Earth, Evilgroove and Vitamin1000 collaboration show back in June where I got to play out some of my favorite electro infused techno and breaks cuts :) It's one of my favorite sets from this past year and loved rinsing my darker selections. I remember the crowd energy being high and super fun to read and hope that's captured in my mixing! Lots of glitchy, driving, and bass-heavy tracks with a mix of punchy and melodic vocals.
