Marijuana

This was the first track I recorded after my mom gave me her 1918 baby grand piano.  This is the first recording I've released using this piano since it came to live with me.  The initial chords were inspired by an encounter at a coffee shop in downtown Santa Fe on a Sunday morning in February.  After playing around with different ideas and making several test recordings a general structure emerged.  Then I improvised several takes with an emphasis on capturing energy and spontaneity.   Piano was mic'd with an AKG 414.

The First Time You Meet Someone

This is such an old track - I wrote it in Toronto during the winter of 2001. I can't believe it's almost 20 years old now. I always loved the chord progression and really the production isn't too shabby considering how old it is. I made this using, I believe, Buzz tracker as the sequencer controlling outboard gear - a Waldorf Q, Yamaha A3000, maybe a Korg Trinity and a Yamaha FS1R maybe?
