"T   O       R             N" is an exploration of various psychological and emotional states resulting from inner and outer conflicts, namely the state of uprootedness, while longing and yet, failing to put down roots elsewhere, or the sense of uncertainty, predicament, and hollowness caused by personal or collective traumas; experiences that can haunt us for long periods of time, if not permanently…
The piece navigates continuity, interruption and the space between them. Within larger continuous sections, smaller segments with timbral, harmonic, gestural, and dynamic contrast invade the space and create fissures. These fissures may provide a temporary release from the preceding tension, while retaining residues from the previous section, and simultaneously, bearing the initial traces of the
upcoming section. At times, the electronics are treated as a magnifying mirror that echo and expand the orchestra. In other cases, they defy it as a disruptive force with contrasting dynamic or timbral qualities.

'Based on the introduction of Jean-Paul Resweber's book "The Philosophy of Language", the piece explores the ambiguity between the voice that conveys a message and the voice whose acoustic and musical qualities are heard. It seems that when our attention is focused on the musical aspect of the voice, we forget the message it carries, and vice versa. The back and forth between these different levels of listening leaves the listener free to give it its own meaning, if there is one. And this is precisely the question asked by the original text. '

Vesal Javaheri (b. 1998) began his musical career at the age of ten, playing classical guitar with Karina Kimiaei, and later with Pedram Falsafi, Babak Valipour, and Eileen Arjmand. He pursued his artistic interests in Electronic Composition and Music Programming with Kiawasch Saheb-Nassagh and Sohrab Motabar.
Some of his compositions have appeared on compilation albums in Iran, the United Kingdom, Poland, and Italy. And have been broadcast in countries such as the United States, Canada, Ireland, Australia, France, Portugal, the Netherlands, and Iran. "Chaos," his first personal album, was released in June 2022.
One of his compositions, suffering, was selected for the Sixth Reza Korourian Electro-Acoustic Composition Competition. The other piece, Requiem, was chosen for the first Golden LALA Electronic Composition Competition.
His musical activities include more than just composing and performing. He's also worked as a sound designer and composer for plays like DreamLand, Nasakh, Process, and There Will Be Blood.
