Tasha Safari - techno DJ and producer originally from Azerbaijan. Based in Berlin.
Born in the small city of Ganja, Azerbaijan, Tasha Safari's musical journey began with the rich shades of Azerbaijani culture. Growing up in a nation known for its blend of Eastern and Western influences, she was exposed to a diverse range of sounds from an early age, from traditional Azerbaijani music to psychedelic rock and post-punk, absorbed into the rhythmic beats of folk instruments and the melodies of the mugham.
Surrounded from an early age by the pulsating beats and innovative sounds that would soon become her lifelong passion, Tasha Safari showed a natural aptitude for music. Her fascination with electronic instruments and an unquenchable thirst for rhythm and melody led her to tinker with synthesizers and drum machines.
Tasha Safari  began her DJ career playing  hip-hop and mixing it with electronic music. In search of a new sound she constantly experimented with different genres of music.
 Her sets are characterized by hypnotic, driving rhythms and blending various subgenres of techno, taking listeners on a journey through the full spectrum of electronic soundscapes.
Over the years, Tasha performed at many venues in the CIS countries and collaborated with artists from different parts of the globe, further enriching her sound. Her partnerships with musicians, vocalists, and producers from diverse backgrounds not only expanded her musical horizons but also promoted cultural exchange and understanding through music. Latest of those collaborations: Bel Fort & Tasha Safari Disorder EP is coming soon in the beginning of 2024.Nowdays  the next step of her music career is moving to Berlin. She already started to work on a new techno project in collaboration with Alessandro Adriani. They are working on new album and plan to focus on live performances.

Sounds From NoWhere welcomes aboard the Spanish dj & producer Alienata (Discos Atónicos / KILLEKILL).

Spanish-born, Berlin-based Alienata is a self-described sound obsessive whose sets span obscure electro, ACID, dub, IDM, dark disco, jakbeat, hypnotic techno, industrial atmospheres, break beats, cosmic jazz , UK electro, Detroit, Chicago influences and crazy sounds in general.
A former philosophy student with a particular interest in mysticism, Alienata began DJing in 2004.
In conjunction with Valencia's Overflow Collective, she not only served as a resident DJ but also participated in theatre and music technology workshops and oversaw its label operations.
Her earliest contact with Germany's music scene came through Leipzig's Homoelektrik collective, and upon moving to Berlin in 2011, she quickly found an adoptive family in the Killekill label and associated Krake Festival.
This relationship helped make her a respected mainstay in clubs in Berlin, around Germany and Europe, but her international profile has been steadily increasing each year: NYC, Chicago, Sydney, Melbourne, Bogotá, Moscow.
In recent times we have been able to experience its genuine style in booths like Fabric, Panorama Bar or ADE.
When behind the decks, Alienata is closely attuned to both internal and external influences, and is unconcerned with providing listeners with an outstanding and energetic experience.
It is not strange that legends like Dave Clarke (who recently played a B2B in ADE) DJ Stingray, Ben Sims or Ron Morelli have expressed all their support and respect for her.
With all that knowledge behind and a true love for music she decided to start her own imprint “Discos Atónicos” in 2017 where she can materialize all its varied influences, counting on legendary artists like Beta Evers, Dez Williams, Artificiero, BS-1 or Cosmic Force.
While primarily focusing on DJing, Alienata has released a few different records & remixes in recent years with collaborations with Snuffo of the jacking Snuff Crew & Sync24 -CEO of the legendary UK electro imprint Cultivated Electronics- Her most recent contribution has been to the great Ben Sims ‘Tribology’ Compilation, together with artists of the size of Robert Hood, James Ruskin or Mark Broom.
Since 2017 she hosts a monthly show called ‘Nova Express’ on the French LYL radio.

The Berghain resident talks about re-queering the goth scene, exploring a lighter side of his sound and preparing for marathon closing sets.

Hayden Payne, AKA Phase Fatale, grew up fully immersed in the world of music; his dad is a recording engineer and musician, as are many members of his family. After joining post-punk outfits like Dream Affair and consuming a diet of new wave and synth from parties like Wierd in New York, Payne eventually relocated to Berlin, where he saw possibilities emerge around ways of fusing guitar music with sounds for the dance floor. It was only shortly after relocating that he landed a residency at Berghain and began releasing his own productions as a techno artist, becoming known for darker-edged sets and productions that fuse industrial, EBM and techno.

In this episode of the RA Exchange, he talks to senior producer Chloe Lula about all of this and more, like "re-queering" the goth scene; exploring a lighter side of his sound with his Italo duo, Soft Crash; his label, BITE Records; and sustaining strong ties to dance floors in Kyiv and Tbilisi, two cities that he reflects as being refreshingly socially and politically motivated for queer artists living in the margins. Riga born / Barcelona based Ksenia Kamikaza is a prominent figure in Latvian scene. The founder of UNDER festival and Platz für Tanz label, Ksenia is one of the main moving forces of rave culture in Latvia. You cannot imagine local showcases of Gegen, Voxnox or Boiler Room without her boundless sets. Spinning records in places like fabric.London, Dommune in Tokyo, Sziget in Budapest or Kit Kat in Berlin, losing herself in music and dust at Burning Man, Ksenia varies from techno to ambient, from dark disco to IDM. She puts listeners on a rhythm and sound journey you cannot leave once you have stepped in.

VSLK: Your first DJ gig?
Ksenia: In March 2004. I had started the Intelligent Beats radio show the year before and my friends invited me to play in the chill-out room at their party. I was so nervous that I pressed the play button of the first track, but later I messed up the players and stopped the track. Omg, I will remember it forever and I even remember the track, it was Bonobo - Something for Windy.

VSLK: Your longest DJ set?
Ksenia: 9 hours in Brussels. It was supposed to be 3 hours, but people just didn't leave. I tried to put slower tracks and they started to dance in pairs, so I decided to go on. I got sick the day before, so I was taking Nurofen and drinking shots of vodka and playing and playing. Next day I was totally fine, no temperature at all. In 2 years a guy came to me at a festival in Batumi and said: Heeey, I remember you from Brussels, that was an amazing party! Was totally unexpected, nice surprise. It was a good party indeed, and sweet memories.

VSLK: What is important to you on the road, especially from gig to gig?
Ksenia: Healthy food, which is almost impossible. I literally hate airport food, same sandwiches all over the world. Though there are exceptions, Rome airport has excellent food and choice of drinks. I also loved Kyiv's Boryspil, even had my favorite restaurant and the coffee place there.

VSLK: Rock or Pop?
Ksenia: Pop, because Rock is dead (sorry guys).

VSLK: Any movie or series recommendations?
Ksenia: One of my favorite movies is Our Music directed by Jean-Luc Godard in 2004. He is one of the greatest directors indeed. In this movie he speaks about the war, what it brings to the world. 20 years have passed, but it feels like he would film it about our days. The true masterpiece, not really known to the wide audience. Not to finish on a sad note, I would like to mention another movie: Kebab Connection by Anno Saul. It is a hilarious comedy about love and how it conquers stupid prejudices and traditions.
