For his Ground Floor selection, the dj leaned into slower rhythms and minimalist sound—music that unfolds gradually, inviting a subtle shift from light to darkness. Chontane dug into tracks from the 2000s and 2010s, chasing a sound that blends naturally into the space and lets the story unfold without rush or pressure.

Before the Curfew is a series of music podcasts that emerged in 2022 after the reopening of the club following the liberation of the Kyiv region. All recordings presented in this series take place before midnight before the curfew begins. Before the Curfew offers a vibrant snapshot of the Ukrainian music scene amidst challenging times, celebrating resilience, creativity, and unity through music.

wallflower__ is a Ukrainian DJ based in Berlin and a resident at Drift Kyiv. Her sound moves through house and techno, balancing past and present while keeping storytelling at its core. She has played at iconic venues like K41 in Kyiv, Saule/Berghain, Radion, Den Anden Side, and Defik Garden Amsterdam (Antidote, Radion).

Q&A
𝙑𝙎𝙇𝙆: How was your first DJ gig?
𝙬𝙖𝙡𝙡𝙛𝙡𝙤𝙬𝙚𝙧__: It’s a memory that only years of therapy could help me erase. But seriously—I think it was me playing at a corporate party, one of my many jobs ago. It’s all a blur, and I don’t remember enjoying it. Things are different now, of course. Let’s not talk about it :)
 
𝙑𝙎𝙇𝙆: DJing - A form of self expression or just a hobby?
𝙬𝙖𝙡𝙡𝙛𝙡𝙤𝙬𝙚𝙧__: A form of self-expression? But also a hobby? Basically, it’s something that consumes 90% of my time and brainpower. I don’t know what you’d call it, but it’s my life.

𝙑𝙎𝙇𝙆: What’s the most important in excessive night events?
𝙬𝙖𝙡𝙡𝙛𝙡𝙤𝙬𝙚𝙧__: Making sure you take care of yourself—and your friends.

𝙑𝙎𝙇𝙆: Berlin - your new home?
𝙬𝙖𝙡𝙡𝙛𝙡𝙤𝙬𝙚𝙧__: Yes, unfortunately. Kidding! I guess it grows on me year by year. It’s a very enticing, yet fairly insidious place—and I suppose that’s where its beauty lies :)

𝙑𝙎𝙇𝙆: Any goals for the next time?
𝙬𝙖𝙡𝙡𝙛𝙡𝙤𝙬𝙚𝙧__: Playing music, playing music, and… playing music.

A post-industrial vortex pulled us in, where deep mechanical grooves met tight rhythmic control in a set that was both punishing and hypnotic. The pacing was expertly crafted, grinding tension, explosive peaks, and moments of eerie restraint, all delivered with a raw, analog-driven energy that kept the floor locked in.
