I, like everybody on Sunday the 26th, was devastated when i heard the news that NBA legend Kobe Bryant had passed. On Monday morning I was watching Sportscenter and the coverage of what happened, and i had 24 hours to reflect and process it. And i couldn’t help but wonder how was i so torn up over a man i had never met, and who didn’t even play for my home team. When celebrities die, i usually give a quick prayer for the family affected, and I’m on about my day. But this was different. i felt physically sick. And as I’m watching the coverage and listening to different points and stories and reflections, i thought about it, and attempted to come to a conclusion. I love sports. And he is so pivotal in SPORTS, not just basketball, in sports. whether he was the hero or the villain in whichever storyline was being narrated, you at least knew he was going to be there. Kobe is the first mega-athlete we, my generation, grew up watching. we didn’t have Jordan, he was before us, and Lebron was just coming into his own. but Kobe was the star and the show in one package. The way he played, with his fire and competitiveness, was unlike anything we’ve ever seen. The 2010 Celtics Lakers finals series is still one of the best 7 game series I’ve ever seen. He was the ONLY person i didn’t care if we lost too. He seemed so untouchable, so immortal, the fact that he is gone has me in disbelief. This is to honor his life, as i try to capture what i was feeling in the form of music. 

This beat takes you through his career, the height of the lakers 2000 run, winning back to back chips in 09/10, his final game, and his tragic passing. 24 forever.
