    • IDEA: Compose a piece of music that is 75% silence and 25% sound. 
    • PROCESS: Decided to make the piece 3 minutes long or 180 seconds. 25% of 180 would be 45 seconds. Used a random number generator to get 45 random numbers between 1 and 180. Used random samples between 1 second and 3 seconds long ( mostly 1 second).Placed them on the timeline at the random numbers generated from the generator.
    • RESULT: 3 minutes piece with sounds playing randomly over 3 minutes.

Creative Process 

To complete this task, I used one of my old songs as the foundation. I broke each track down into individual sequences, separating them strategically by 4 bars. This step allowed me to create space for innovation while preserving the integrity of the original composition. 

Filling these spaces required a thoughtful approach. I selected new musical ideas based on their ability to complement the existing sequences while introducing fresh elements to the piece. Challenges included ensuring the new additions didn't overpower the original tracks and maintaining a cohesive flow throughout the composition. Through iterative experimentation and refinement, I crafted a balanced piece with dynamic contrasts that highlight both the original melodies and the newly added layers.
