Detroit Swindle - THUMP NYE MIX

The indecision was killing him. He struggled to make sense of the environment around him let alone what went on within his own head. The only way in which he had learnt to cope with the nature of uncertainty was by firmly grounding himself in a singular, solitary maybe. No other answer would suffice and let his beating brain be still. He wondered whether other people were burdened with as much crippling self doubt as that which plagued him day in day out. Maybe they were, maybe not. 

Larry De Kat is one to watch. His newly founded label Katnip is making moves and 2017 sees him kick off a new season for the label with a self produced EP accompanied with remixes bound to entice and excite. Dj Nature and Frits Wentink step up to offer alternatives.

The bridge was all that connected the two atop towering cliffs. It swung delicately upon the breeze, its slight wooden frame hazardous and uneasy. It would only take one at a time and the fear inside her began to build with frigid distress. If only the bridge were to be as strong as the rallying thoughts within her head. She looked out at him as he rocked back and forth with caution. He shouted back to her something along the lines of "see you on the other side"... She couldn't be sure. 

Fouk is set to release a new EP on Heist Recordings on the 26th of June later this month. Mount Liberation Unlimited have contributed a remix to the release, a 'crying cowboy dubb' to be precise.

“Mori Summer” is a chilled down yet upbeat track that starts off the EP. This one would be a perfect fit in any respectable dj’s set (we don’t want to know about the unrespectable ones, we’ve got standards), either in the beginning, the end or as a bridge track. While the drums and the hi hats provide the foundation of the track and maintains a steady groove, the melody of the synth brings in that extra layer of warmth and serenity that can only put a big smile on your face while listening to this track.

Only thing left to do is go prepare yourself that negroni you’ve been dreaming about all week and put this track. “Think About it First” EP is scheduled for release in mid July on the Shall Not Fade Label. Don’t sleep on this one!

We’ve been waiting patiently for new material, challenging the guys to take the signature ‘Fouk’ sound to the next level. Fouk’s brilliance has been obvious on recent work for their own label Outplay and Razor ‘n Tape, as well as their respective solo projects. We’ve kept a close connection, teaming up whenever possible for Heist showcases, with highlights in Amsterdam’s “Claire” and Paris’ “Concrete”. Seeing their work and enthusiasm made it abundantly clear that it would only be a matter of time before they’d show us what the next step would look -or better yet- sound like.
