Many people don't realize "jungle" is originally a Sanskrit word. Spearheaded by acclaimed vocalist Delhi Sultanate (Skavengers, Bass Foundation Roots), India's Word Sound Power crew take you deep into the jungle with “Discipline”, an industrial strength dancehall riddim built for the subwoofer obsessed bass music generation; complete with lyrics designed to overthrow the new world order, a battery of percussion, and horn blasts sampled directly from the trunks of Indian elephants. The track was produced over the course of one year between the mountains of Almora in India and New York City, where the final production and vocal recordings were completed. This track follows up a previous chart topping collaboration between Delhi Sultanate & Subatomic Sound called “NYC-2-India”.

Word Sound Power formed in 2009 and engages in collaborations with singers involved in social and political struggles across India. The crew consists of vocalist Delhi Sultanate, producer Chris McGuinness and film maker Kush Badhwar. Armed with a mobile studio and a camera they travel to different regions in India in order to make music and film with singers who are involved with revolutionary movements. WSP has released two projects so far: The Bant Singh Project (2009) and Blood Earth (2011) wordsoundpower.org/ Their projects have received a number of awards and have been presented in Cambridge and Harvard Law School's Institute for Global Law and Policy, films have been screened at the Berlinale film festival and Video Brazil.

The video for Discipline documents life in the urban jungle on the streets of one of India's largest cities, New Delhi, a sprawling metropolis strained by extreme economic disparity, injustice, and inequality. While the popular media stance is to discount dissenting voices within these communities as the enemies of the state, this is a first hand account from an educated voice within the struggle that details a society trying to rise up from the shadowy past of the oppression of colonial superpowers.

THE SUBATOMIC SOUND LABEL: Subatomic Sound specializes in limited digital and vinyl releases that push the envelope of dub, reggae, & dancehall in the context of electronic bass music through forward sounding productions and unlikely collaborations with icons such as Lee “Scratch” Perry, David Lynch, Anthony B, Elephant Man, Ari Up of The Slits, as well as new school torchbearers like Dubblestandart, Jahdan Blakkamoore, Dub Gabriel, and many more. Subatomic Sound actively produces events and founded the annual Dub Champions Festival running 5 years in the USA and Europe. Subatomic Sound Radio airs on Brooklyn Radio and for three years ran on KEXP’s Radio New York, 91.5FM broadcast which transmitted to a footprint of 11 million listeners.
