Yesterday I produced a track that feels (to my ear)like Pink Floyd (70's side-B long jam style) meets Grateful Dead (70's deep instrumental experimental jam style) with the production aesthetic of Radiohead's "In-Rainbows".  I overdubbed all of the instruments, it was the most fun I've had in the studio in a while. I am forever grateful for music, it's the best.

I have always tried to hide my influences, but this album is different. On this song I intentionally attempted to fuse "Wall" era Pink Floyd with 70s Grateful Dead and a touch of Radiohead.  All three hugely influential musical acts that helped form my sensibilities.

This mix was lost for over 10 years. I just brought a dead hard drive back to life and couldn't believe it was on there. I was able to (very slowly) copy the file to a new drive and found some promo photos from the same era.

One of my favorite methods for creating music by myself is to record to a click (in Ableton Live) starting with one instrument. The first instrument I play a continuous improvisation for a set period of time and this becomes the arrangement for the song (i try to do no edits or note-repair to the 1st instrument).  
Then I start layering.

Lens Flare Entities

Hi, I have a new single out today! It is called "Start Where You Are" and I play all of the instruments including vocals/lyrics.
I have really been enjoying the 1-man-band process, starting with an improvisation on a single instrument. This one began with Rhodes electric piano. Then I edit the improvisation into an arrangement and start adding parts one at a time. On many of these songs I attempt a vocal and then quickly delete it. I am my own harshest critic when it comes to my singing and lyrics. Well, this tune is an exception, the vocal worked and I added a stack of vocal harmonies. I really like how this one turned out, hope you do to. Thanks for listening!

hi.  here is an eclectic freestyle mix of originals, home-made remixes, edits, mashups, loops, layers...  Lots of  new & old (some very old) VibeSquaD music, classic hiphop, soul, funk (and even one short mashup borrowed from Z-trip -- it just fit the mix so i dropped it in....) 

The mix is over an hour long starting at 76bpm and slowly climbing up to 97bpm.
