VIBECAST VOLUME 20: COLTON CAMERON

Colton Cameron is an Austin, TX based DJ who’s made his name championing the deeper and melodic sides of house and techno. Drawing from a diverse library, the individual content of each set fluctuates to match the theme and headliner on the night, but regularly follows a few common themes. As showcased in this volume of the Vibecast, Colton will often set the mood through a variety of deep and progressive house before pivoting towards a more eclectic party-focused house, breaks, and techno selections. For him, each set aims to curate a different experience by cohesively blending that variety of sounds and genres, accentuating each selection with the surrounding tracks.

Colton performed locally at Seismic Dance Event in 2019 and has played shows in Austin, Dallas, and Houston - opening for the likes of Tale of Us, Jonas Rathsman, ANNA, Ben Böhmer, Enamour, Magdalena, and Coyu.

Excited to introduce this special mix for the Vibe Vessel Vibecast. My goal was to feature sonic selections from regional artists and across seas friends. Tribal and percussively driven introductions from artists like Cody Inner, Michael Clies, and Roman march into headier waters with diverse shades from MA and Mr. Sosa. Tension and musicality mount when Gaelle’s “Rain” provides a welcome vocal reprieve. In this mix is featured a preview of my upcoming collaboration EP with KiloWatts with a remix from Finley and also an upcoming vinyl release on my label Harmonious Discord by Jay Tripwire. Rounding out the hour senses shift into drifting techno with contributions from Matthias Springer and Patrick Zigon. Navigating these shifting moods aims to give a perfect mixture or flavors for your fall season.

Akin to the mysterious sea anemone, Daniel Allen's sensibilities extend from deep underground straight up to the glimmering surface. Since his start in '89, he's had his tentacles in everything — 80s, drum & bass, house, techno, and all fusions thereof — giving his DJ sets a riveting, tactile quality. On the creative side, Daniel currently has over 50 releases distributed on labels such as Viva Recordings, Red Ant Records, Colour and Pitch, and many more. Between steering the helm of misfit record label Denied Music and studio work, he can be found at his residencies at renowned Austin venue Plush, Techno Club in New Orleans., and The Dive in Houston.

Cincinnati-an and metal-rock enthusiast, Alex Engen, first appeared on the scene after his wife, DJ HallPass, temporarily put her headphones on the shelf to put her primary focus into raising their new daughter. As one door closes (temporarily), another opens.
 
Alex's ear for music was influenced under the sounds of Chopin and Killswitch Engage. His palette for melody and heart racing kick-drums led him to eventually fall in love with the darker tone of house music. Attending Dirtybird Campout on his honeymoon solidified his enchantment with the tech-house genre and his goal to find balance between the party enthusiast tech-house listeners and dark energy fueled techno. He describes his culmination of the two sub-genres: Deep & Dark & Sexy.

We met Chris after one of our pool parties when we hosted a small after party at the Oven. Chris asked to play, we obliged, and we loved it! When he's not DJ'ing Chris is serving his country as a field medic for the US Army. Thank you for your service sir! 

Chris Allard, AKA 1134 began his love for electronic music in 1995, as a well known and respected promoter for the infamous Netwerk One productions. As an early pioneer of the New England rave scene, he had an opportunity to work with and watch almost every prominent DJ and live electronic music act of the 90's, including Daft Punk, Rabbit in the Moon, Bad Boy Bill, DJ Funk, DJ Venom, Donald Glaude, DJ Dan, Charles Feelgood, Frankie Bones, and a host of others. Once submerged into the scene, he was given the opportunity to promote for the biggest and best production companies and clubs the East Coast had to offer, pushing venues to their limits with shows often bringing in 5000-8000 people. Whether it's getting the Subtek New Years Eve party started , or opening for headlining acts like Micke, Noel Sanger, D Unity, Anthony Attalia, and Agent Orange, as well as several appearances at Raleigh's longest running electronic weekly "SubRosa", one off's for Austin's Vibe Vessel, or surprise sets for San Antonio's Down To Funk production company, 1134 is (re)making a name for himself by bringing bangers every time he steps behind the decks.

Scott Slyter has been a DJ for 7 years, blending both disco and bass house influences. As Austin Texas as his home base, he has hosted international artists such as Flava D, Henry Fong, Astronomar, and Anthony Attalla. Scott has performed in LA, San Diego, Tijuana Mexico, Tel Aviv Israel, Dallas, San Antonio, and Austin, Texas.

Like for many others, 2020 has been a whirlwind for him.  Focusing more on production, he has signed tracks with multiple record labels, and being featuring on compilation albums. Scott signed his funk house track 'Bootsy Funk' to Italian record label Soul Treasure Records, which has created a buzz overseas, being remixed by local Italian DJ legend Ciappo.

Additionally, the LA group Top Shelf Disco featured his deep house track 'Destined' for their summer 2020 compilation album.  Scott signed with London based label Filthy Records with Lefty and Lucky Roll for their release 'Let's Do it'. Last Scott is featued on the newest Compilation album by Austin record label Tall Door Records featuring 'Movin Up' featuring Shep.  With a potential West Coast tour in summer 2021, he is excited for all the possibilities of this new year.
