Happy go go

Moving from Steam- to Cyber- prefixes in this one, hopefully retaining some punk.  With the definitive cyberpunk flick Blade Runner providing the inspiration here, this is a transitional track for me.  I’ve finished my Steamy album (sorry, it really will be out soon, I promise!!) and I’m moving on to some disassemblage of acoustic instruments, both metaphorically and literally.  But in the mean time I have to get the dregs of industrial demolition and digital grime out of my system, which is why this track now exists.  Please enjoy:  Free to download. Drunken Kung Fu is a good thing to be musically inspired by.  Here’s a tune with sounds from Drunken Master – a 1970s kung fu film with Jackie Chan.  In terms of my fantasy vision, it’s kinda cyber-retrospective, like some Hong Kong guy in 2050 learning kung fu from old movies.   I’ve tried to, err… “remix” one of my favourite songs – it pops up again and again in Wong Fe Hung movies, and I’m told that it’s called 男儿当自强  If you’re Chinese and you happen to know anything about the history of this tune, I’d love to hear about it – I’ve enjoyed it since I was a kid.  

Zui Quan

Its been Local Talk bosses Mad Mats & Toolis secret weapon during their DJ sets over the past months and have destroyed clubs from London to Berlin. With a super catchy chord theme, bumpy 4/4 beats and a slight UK feel this is as bad as it gets. Its just one of those tunes you immediately recognize and can relate with. 

Together with a deep journey house remix from AD Bourke and a fierce UK inspired bass/house mix from Colognes HADE we dare to say that this is one the finest releases on Local Talk so far.
