BBC Sports Read - Being a Newsreader???!

Blimey, doesn't time fly? in 2003, at the age of 25 I presented the lunchtime show (1pm - 4pm) for 3 years, taking over from Liz Kershaw and preceding Nemone. I love(d) the station, but at that age struggled with the scrutiny (that comes with such a high-profile job) I experienced. I was offered another contract, but declined, instead taking advantage of the working visa in Australia. I left in August 2006. The most common question posed to me is, "do you regret leaving?". Fortunately I'm armed with blinkers (that only slip on occasion), and try to look forward. No regrets. My time at 6 was extraordinary; I met some amazingly creative people, some lovely people, and one of my best friends. Now I enjoy alternative music because I love it; it's no longer a job.

Throughout my career, I've always been told I'm a Marmite listen. I'm very much aware of this. For those unfamiliar with the term, it's basically a love or hate thing; I've been defiant in remaining yeasty, as I'm a firm believer that vanilla jocks don't have impact in a saturated market. Don't get me wrong, I can do vanilla but I don't find it challenging, and I think it's disrespectful to the gig and the listeners. I don't insult the intelligence of my crew, not on my watch.
