Rounding out the summer season, Tash's Movement Recordings welcomes Alan Cerra to the label for his debut EP. Hailing from Argentina, Alan has been touted as one of the progressive scene's most promising talents. Although still a relative newcomer with 2019 marking his arrival, Alan has already turned heads with his groovy progressive sound. Genre tastemakers Cid Inc, Eelke Kleijn, Hernan Cattaneo, Miss Monique, Tim Green and more have been steadfast supporters along the way, while Juicebox Music, Higher States, Hoomidaas and Siona Records have served as landing spots for some of Alan's most highly regarded work. Now adding Movement Recordings to his resume, Alan debuts on the label with a three-track showcase entitled 'Space Dive'.

EP opener and title selection 'Space Dive' finds Alan operating at the peak of his creative powers. Fuelled by rhythm and groove; its warm basslines, crunchy rhythms and tight percussive arrangements resonate on a transcendent level. Energetic and melodic across the first movement, Alan continues his creative ways with arpeggiated fragments and panning effects creating a bridge into the main break. Sitting in a cosmic yet thought provoking space, a stunning effects narrative captivates as the interlude evolves, flowing through mind-bending modulation, eventually spearheading a groove-centric drop and charged finale.

Moving forward to selection two Alan continues his dancefloor minded approach with 'Blue Magpie'. Landing with an equally impressive display of craftsmanship, the Argentine plants multiple explosions of serotonin through hopeful overlays, clustered effects and disorientating projections. Clever co-actions make for a break that is both dynamic and tense, flowing through flickering percussion and pyrotechnic effects, before confidently returning to the groove for a sweeping aerial finale.

Rounding out the release are the machine gun grooves and pulsating rhythms of 'Behind the Lines'. From dark and mysterious beginnings come whimsical themes and striking electronics which captivate leading into the break. Looking to bring greater emotional depth, Alan reaffirms his musical prowess with heartfelt harmonics and balmy effects which play across the main break, only to be washed away in a timely fashion for a thunderous conclusion. Alan continues to impress with his Movement Recordings debut, a three-track affair which carry's on what has been an incredible year for the fast-rising progressive phenom.

Franco Camiolo is the latest talent to emerge from the rich Argentinian progressive house scene. Dropping his first ever release on Manual Music's long running MNL imprint, he instantly enters the scene with a bang, dropping two high quality progressive house groovers with 'Speculating As Unknown' and 'Dreams'.

Spicing up his debut even more you'll find Echo Daft and Yonsh on remix duties. These guys show why they are on the radar of many DJ's at the moment, as they keep on blasting out one quality production after another, and these remixes are no exception!

Couldn't be happier with my Essential Mix for BBC Radio 1! Having grown up listening to the Radio 1 Dance Family & Essential Mixes religiously, they had a huge influence on my musical taste. So much so, that I would even say that I wouldn't be making the music I make today if it wasn't for their impact.

It's always a huge honour to work with Radio 1 and I had a lot of fun putting this mix together for you, including a few surprises to highlight some of those early influences.

The latest installment of our free download series welcomes Onurcan Kaya with his take on ‘Massive’ by Drake. The Turkish artist first emerged in 2021 with a release via 4or Records, a release which would make him a name to watch in the world of melodic house and techno. The next two calendar years would see Onurcan add Astral Records, Melodic Room and VTOPIΛ to his resume, in turn earning support from Fideles, Kevin de Vries, Øostil and Tale Of Us, among others. Also an accomplished DJ, Onurcan has been a fixture of his country’s nightlife of late, programming music for some of Turkey’s trendiest venues. A recent highlight of Onurcan’s sets has been his much requested rendition of Drake’s ‘Massive’. As the second single from the Canadian hiphoper’s 2022 album ‘Honestly, Nevermind’, the track would go on to achieve critical and commercial success, ultimately peaking at #2 in the UK dance charts and #11 on Billboard’s Electronica Hot Dance. With Onurcan’s remix of the track already receiving play from Agents of Time, Armin Van Burren, Fideles, Innellea, Kevin de Vries and more, we’re pleased to offer it as an exclusive free download. Momery forms an experience between the relationship of memory and music. An attempt to concept images with ideas, emotions and sensations, externalising them to reality. 

Formed in 2022, Momery consists of Charis & George. Hailing from Thessaloniki this production duo has an interesting background, with solo projects and releases as Symmetric ( George) and One half of Future of Matter (Charis) being supported from the major acts around the melodic techno scene.  Through mutual inspiration and shared vision they have decided to enter the studio creating something new and Momery was born . 

The start could not have been better as their first track “Ophelia” has been selected from Mind Against to be part of their  new imprint HABITAT.Furthermore they released in Eleatics , New tab. Their sound is a mixture of colours and strong emotions. 

Their debut took place at reworks festival in 2022. Since then they have played alongside artists such as Tale of Us, Innellea, Kevin de Vries, Ka:ast, Adriatique delivering deep and powerful sets, melancholic and euphoric on equal balance. As for the future it looks euphoric and bright on what Momery are capable of.
