《核四送去總統府》是從90年代就參與反核運動至今、以音樂闖街頭數十載的工人樂隊「黑手那卡西」在去年的作品，今年在P.L.U.R.S.電音反核陣線的邀請下，黑手那卡西提供了這首歌，由我們的成員進行混音後，提供遊行時的DJ 在卡車開到景福門、接近總統府時播放。

這是一次我們試圖「用電子音樂跟其他音樂、其他社群發生關係」的嘗試，也藉由歌曲的混音、改編，把黑手那卡西介紹給不曾聽過他們作品的電音社群，創造另一種聆聽、呼應這首抗議歌曲的方式。在混音的過程中，製作者特別保留了這首歌完整的歌詞，以凸顯其中的嘲諷、荒謬、血淋淋的控訴，以及本來就相當具有戲劇效果的強烈律動感，另外也配合了當天該時段DJ的音樂風格-Psychedelic Trance，增加了重低音的跳舞節拍、讓遊行時電音卡車的DJ能夠更流暢的加以運用。

我們很開心能夠將這首歌曲介紹給從未聽過黑手那卡西的朋友，也希望已經熟識這首歌的夥伴，能夠再一次感受當中的意義與力道。

EARLY ELECTRONIC: TAIWAN SYNTH FOLK OF THE 70'S (NTS RADIO)

來自高雄的臺美藝術家 黃美琦 Vicki Huang，活躍於音樂、視覺與科技跨界領域。她身兼多職，從歌手、樂器演奏家到 DJ、3D 藝術家與 XR 創作者，作品巧妙融合現代電子聲響與傳統民謠韻律，靈活運用藍調語彙，講述跨文化臺美故事。

Vicki 目前在高雄深入研究滑音吉他與口琴演奏，並將民族音樂學研究轉化為多媒體作品。她即將發行的黑膠 EP，融合 Melodic Techno、Organic House、Downtempo 與 Glitch，並取樣臺南民謠，透過臺灣獨立廠牌「鹽埕區長 salt district mayor」推出，同時附帶互動式 AR 內容，展現獨特影音敘事。作為台北潮電 Bar&RecordStore 的常駐 DJ-producer，她每月舉辦「漫舞運動 slow dance movement」，探索臺灣音樂歷史，並持續與南臺灣創意社群交流，共同推動新聲音發展。

Based in Kaohsiung, Taiwanese-American artist Vicki Huang thrives at the intersection of music, visual art, and technology. As a singer-songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, DJ-producer, 3D artist, and XR creator, her work seamlessly blends modern electronic elements with traditional folk idioms, utilizing blues motifs to tell cross-cultural Taiwanese-American stories.

Currently, Vicki is in Kaohsiung, delving into slide guitar and harmonica research, transforming ethnomusicological investigations into new audiovisual multimedia works. Her forthcoming vinyl EP reinterprets Tainan folksongs with melodic techno, organic house, downtempo, and glitch, self-released on 「鹽埕區長 salt district mayor」 alongside an interactive AR zine, showcasing a unique sonic and visual narrative. As a resident DJ-producer at Taipei's Chao Bar&RecordStore, she hosts monthly "漫舞運動 slow dance movement" gatherings, exploring Taiwanese music history and actively engaging with Southern Taiwan's vibrant creative community to push new sounds.

This month episode of Carhartt WIP Radio is brought to you by the Amsterdam-based musician, artist, and DJ @upsammy, whose sounds map a futuristic terrain of crystalline melodies, complex rhythms, and a blend of digital and organic textures.

In 2016, she uploaded her track “Zona” to SoundCloud, which caught the attention of the Nousklaer Audio label, and led to her debut EP "Another Place" in 2018. Since then, she’s released more music on Nous'klaer, as well as on Dekmantel, Pan, and Die Orakel; held residencies at NTS Radio and Amsterdam’s club Garage Noords; and completed a degree at Utrecht University of the Arts. In 2025, she debuted a new audiovisual live show for her album Strange Meridians, released in 2024 on topo2.

“i grew up on the east coast in new jersey and after school in the midwest and a few years on the west coast, i moved back home and realized deep in my bones, i’m an east coast gal! i need the revolution of 4 seasons and autumn is forever my favorite season. nothing beats an east coast autumn—as the summer heat starts to cool, it’s back-to-school season, and the leaves begin to transform and glow with earthy, vibrant hues. it’s apple picking season!” This is how vicki huang @vickihuang feels about “Autumn Commences,” as they bring the 23rd Orbitinging mix.

“it’s an ambient IDM glitch mix for spacing out, laying on the grass with your headphones on to enjoy all the ear candy—bleeps and bloops, brain food, bits and bytes,” they add. “i was a spacey kid and still am a space cadet!”

vicki huang is a Taiwanese-American musician, DJ, and vinyl storyteller focused on the preservation and revival of Taiwanese folk music. Their work explores diasporic memory through archival materials combined with contemporary downtempo and electronic grooves. Based in Taiwan, they are a resident DJ at Taipei’s 潮電Bar&RecordStore and founder of 鹽埕區長salt district mayor,  a living archive and audiovisual label devoted to forgotten voices and field recordings from Taiwan’s roots culture.

vicki highlights “brood xii - brood xii” from their mix—a track by John Hughes III, founder of Chicago-based IDM label Hefty Records. “hefty was home to my childhood favorite band, ‘telefon tel aviv’. i listened to their album fahrenheit fair enough on repeat throughout high school and college—it feels like sonic home to me. ‘brood xii’ probably refers to cicadas, which reminds me of nature’s chorus in late summer.”

“hello from my childhood bedroom in new jersey!” vicki shares, visiting family and hosting a few listening sessions in NYC this midsummer. They found their old tape recorder—“my first tool for electronic music—used for field recording, sampling, and playing with soundwaves. i used to get such a kick out of the simplest effect: reverse. for this mix, i pressed reverse again—returning to the music that inspired and healed me as a kid. some tracks were ripped from my old CD collection,” they share excitedly.

vicki will return to Kaohsiung in the fall to continue working on their debut EP—a collection of downtempo/techno reimaginings of Tainan folk songs—and to prepare the first 鹽埕區長 salt district mayor vinyl release.

「我在美國東岸的紐澤西長大，在中西部念書，然後在西岸待了幾年後搬回家，才深刻地意識到：我骨子裡就是個東岸女孩！我需要四季的變換，而秋天永遠是我最喜歡的季節。沒有什麼比東岸的秋天更棒了——夏天的熱氣開始消退，就是開學的季節，樹葉開始轉變成大地氣息的色彩，亦是蘋果採收的季節！」這是黃美琦vicki huang @vickihuang 對於「立秋」的感受，他同時也為帶Orbitinging系列帶來第23部混音作品。

「混音中夾雜了ambient、IDM、glitch，適合放空、躺在草地上戴著耳機聆聽──那些嗶嗶啵啵像耳朵裡的糖果、腦部糧食以及數據碎片的聲響。」她補充道，「我從小到大就是個淘氣的孩子。」

vicki特別從混音中挑選了〈brood xii - brood xii〉與我們分享，這首歌來自 John Hughes III——芝加哥 IDM 廠牌 Hefty Records 的創辦人。「Hefty 是我童年最喜歡的樂團『telefon tel aviv』的老家。我從高中到大學每天都重複播放他們的專輯《fahrenheit fair enough》，那對我來說是音樂的家與慰藉。『brood xii』指的大概是蟬，讓我聯想到夏末大自然的合鳴。」

vicki在紐澤西兒時的臥房笑著和我們打招呼──這個夏天，她回到美國東岸陪家人，同時也在紐約籌辦幾場聆聽會。她翻出小時候使用的錄音機：「那是我做電子樂使用的第一個工具，用來錄環境音、取樣，還有把玩聲波。我以前超愛一個最簡單的效果：倒轉 (reverse)。這次的作品，我也按下了『倒轉』鍵——回到那些曾啟發我、療癒我的童年音樂。裡面有幾首甚至是我從小時候的CD裡翻出來的。」

vicki 將在秋天回到高雄，並持續創作她的首張 EP——一張將台南民謠重新詮釋為downtempo/techno曲風的作品，同時也將準備 鹽埕區長 salt district mayor 的第一張實體黑膠發行。
