Written in 2022-23

Something organic is a direct response to my writing block in 2022. The piece focuses on creating compositional fragments that form a microcosm of similarity. Similarly, to blotch, this piece is also built around chords of sustained quality and least mass. You will hear how some harmonies elide and collide with each other horizontally as well as a continuity of texture between instruments. These act as guiding parameters for the listener but also contribute to the modularity of the piece. Therefore, the performers have the option to play different modules in varying permutations which makes every listening experience unique. The nature of this piece also comes from revisiting my passion for field recording sounds and resultantly, those sounds gathered were used in the tape portion of the piece.
