Jon Sa Trinxa .Part 2. Sa Trinxa Live Mix - 29 .7. 2014.

I regularly attended the Nottingham Out To Lunch Jazzdance sessions for at least 8 years and ended up getting to know quite a lot of the people that turn up on the second Sunday of every month. I enjoyed the privacy of these Sunday sessions – you coud go and chat to the dancers and get involved or hide behind a pillar and listen to the hard bop. Perry Louis and JazzCotech Dancers are a class act and the music is always ace.

One day in early 2008, the organiser/resident DJ Killer Jim asked me if I wanted to play at the August session. It’s a massive honour to play there so it was great to be asked. I really enjoyed blasting out the tunes to such a responsive and interpretive dancers – watching the twists, turns and ultra fancy footwork really did add an extra dimension to playing the tunes. The intimate setting somehow made it feel bigger than a ‘big’ gig and I found it one of my most rewarding and enjoyable DJ experiences so far.

This week's i-DJ comes from house heavyweight Josh Butler. Having dropped the huge anthem Got A Feeling via Chase & Status' MTA Records and a string of big releases for the Pura Music, OFF Recordings and Keri Chandler's MadTech imprint, getting the Leeds based producer in the mix for i-D has been a long time coming. His latest release on MTA with Bontan, We Found A Place, features new kid on the block Josh Barry (definitely one to look out for). With my Rhythm Control mix I wanted to explore a slightly different sound than what people know me for in clubs, and create something that sounds timeless. I've drawn inspiration from different places in time and different styles, and I saw this as a way for me to collect into one place all of those more eclectic influences that continue to inspire me. Most of all this is a mix of slow jams and indie rock to bring some heat in on those cold cold winter nights.
